Sd cards. What's good?

Featured Replies

Sandisk are about the best SD card manufacturer around. You pay a premium but their cards are excellent and tend to stand the test of time much better than cheaper alternatives.

The class of the card dictates transfer speeds; generally the higher the class the quicker data transfer can take place, good for quicker track skipping and seeking.

Generally, the higher the speed rating the better but in reality actual speeds can vary and use for just audio doesn't warrant the purchase of the latest card as it only needs to be quick enough to read and access quickly.  Sandisk are good.  But, as a result they are by far the most copied type of card.  I have been sent fakes from ebay which was disappointing but not a surpirse and amazon which was a surprise.

Often you'll quickly tell a fake by slow transfer speed as the cards are the cheapest the fraudsters can get.   A few of the fakes have been quick but packed up after a few weeks.

I would buy from a reputable retailer and keep both the receipt and the packaging.

That's all cool guys, really it is interesting.

But any actual card suggestions :). Will just be for audio

I've got class 4's and 10's in mine.  To be honest, I've found no difference in the speed of seeking or skipping on either card.

San disk and Lexar are among the best (they're used by the photographers too), but since you'll use it only for audio, I reckon that almost any brand will do. I use San disk Extreme Pro in my camera and San disk class 6 for the dash cam, audio and satnav... no complaints so far :)

That's the one I have

Takes a couple of days to arrive. It's fine.

Bought a Sandisk 64GB microSD a few weeks ago, have been using it in the Octavia and it's great.

The manual does say something about not recommending using smaller SD cards with adapters. In reality a good adapter holds the card very tightly and I don't believe there'll be any problems.

I prefer microSD as I can use it in other devices if necessary. And more easily connect to my computer.

Ive used micro SD's with converters in my Octy 2 and 3 also and they work fine, had a card die but it was quite old at that point.
