Octavia Mk2 IZ5 fuel feed pipes - replacement/sourcing

Featured Replies

Hi. Apologies if there are old posts on this subject, but my searches aren't finding them.

I have an 06 registered Mk 2 Octavia Ambiente Estate 1.9PD diesel with a BKC code engine. The two fuel feed/return shaped rubber pipes coming from the top of the filter/pump housing in the engine compartment and connecting to the metal feed pipes which run across the front of and into the engine/to the injectors appear to be oozing diesel very slightly. I can't find any severe chafing or punctures or leaks at the ends, so I presume they are beginning to perish. The pipes in question are similar to the ones marked 1 and 2 in this diagram:

I have enquired from a Skoda dealer parts department regarding replacement pipes (having first established they are dealer only and not carried by general motor factors) and was told that VW only supply them complete with the metal pipes, priced at c £105 incl VAT for the pair! Apparently the rubber tubes simply are not available separately, despite having spring clips at each end, both where they fit onto the spigots atop the filter/pump housing and where they join the metal pipes across the front of the head casing.

So, has anyone any advice? Does anyone know of a safe and serviceable work-around? Has anyone been able to obtain just the rubber tubes? Can they be safely substituted with generic diesel fuel pipe, and if so, of what specification (bore diameter)? Would scrap-sourced ones be a viable way to go? Does anyone know of any serious practical reason why VW don't supply them separately from the metal tubes (e.g. are they fused on in some way)?

Any advice or relevant experience would be most helpful and much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi

Fuel spill pipes are available at the likes of GSF and Euro car parts. Now it was over 5 years ago since I replaced my Golf fuel return pipes as they leaked fuel.

1 length. Not necessarily color coded. I cut into 4 bits and swapped one at a time.

They are just rubber hoses with some braid over them.

Hope you find some soon.

Hi jemtheflute, did you replace the pipes with non Skoda ones, or did you buy the originals. If you replaced the pipes with non skoda ones  what size bore did they have ?

Cheers
