8 Gearstick Buttons

Featured Replies

What are the 8 gearstick buttons/ button blanks for? I've only got two - tyre pressure sensor and traction, suppose hill hold, stop start could be another 2. Has anyone got all 8 filled?

Don't think anybody has all the buttons filled. Think these are the only options;

Park sensors, Park Assist, Electric Boot Release

ESP, Start/Stop, TPMS

I have all except Start/Stop. You could mod them, in other cars you can buy blanks and have them linked to say a garage door opener or something. Or even funny ones like "ejection seat" buttons.

I have 6 on L&K spec

Traction Control         Parking sensors (bleeps)

Tyre pressure            Auto self park system

Stop Start                  Power boot (Estate)

Not sure if any of the 4x4 owners have diff lock button

Be interesting to know I agree

I have:

Tyre pressure monitor

Park assist

Parking sensors

Stop/Start

ESP

I don't have boot release so that would make six.  Is hill hold not automatic?  I'd imagine they design the console in order to leave some spare - for example if a new feature is added during a model life or to save too many changes on a FL model.  Stop/start is an example of that I suppose. Do 4x4s get any additional features maybe?

I had a set of those, but they were slightly too big for the smaller Superb buttons plus never actually got round to fitting them. Sold to someone on here!

Elegance 4x4 here, only came with Tyre pressure monitor I think... oh and traction control. Blanks do bug me!

Bugs me, in the same way it does Leon, that I only have the same two, but more so that they're on the wrong side of the gearstick!!

In 4x4 diff lock is electronic, so no additional button.

Hill hold definaetly not one of them. Once fitted takes care if it'self.

I have same configuration as Superb 170

I like the idea of having one to operate my garage door, I might look into that

Ejector seat?

Could come in handy when being told off by my driving instructor wife lol

Just been out and checked mine and yes I have four: -

ESP

park assist

TPM

parking sensors.

Yep just checked mine and five Park assist was the optional extra i specced on FL Elegance

Tyre pressure monitor

Park assist

Parking sensors

Stop/Start

ESP

I'm wondering if I can adapt one for my wife in the passenger seat, like a pleasure button?

Otherwise I have the parking sensors, parking assist, traction and tyre pressure monitor.

I modded one blank on mine to carry a std USB Socket. Just have a short lead plugged in and my phone lives on the sliding lid of the ash tray. No need to access phone once twinned as can make/recieve calls & text without touching phone. Its also charging continuously. USB is a power feed only when ignition is switched on.

So six are accounted for. Would one of the remaining two be for the aux webasto heater.?

Love the USB mod idea..

The aux Webasto controls would be on the climatronic panel, not one of those 2. In fact, they were never ment to be filled.

What they are for, is they need to remind you of the fact that you're NOT driving a premium car, it's NOT a luxury car, it's NOT classy, comfortable or stylish in any way. Those 2 empty blanks scream "BUY AN AUDI"

Sounds great!

Can you describe how you did it or put up pics?

RBurke, see pics below. Ran a fused feed from Fuse Box, which becomes live when ignition is on, to a std USB charger, and linked this to the USB socket I fitted into the blank at the front drivers side of the gearchange. Got a short USB cable from Fleabay and charges whilst on the go, with phone secure but handy!

Thats excellent Napier
