vcds and things I would like

Featured Replies

Hi all

First question - if VCDS is used on my car to alter a setting is this something that is glaringly obvious to the main dealer if the car goes in later and they connect their system?

Secondly - if the main dealer does an update whilst in for a service or other work, will it over write any VCDS settings?

Thirdly - if all of the above are NO, I have a wish list and need to find a friendly knowledgeable member with VCDS down Devon way:)

1. Cornering fog enabled

2. Both rear fog lights enabled (if legal UK)

3. Auto dimming DRL when indicating

4. Rear tail lights on with DRL

5. Number plate light monitoring off (got LEDs)

Maybe some more if I can remember ;)

TIA

Regards

Nothing will be obvious to the dealer... apart from the fact that the car has gained certain functions of course!

If a controller needs to be replaced (very rare) then obviously you will loose and coding that has been changed ON THAT controller, this can simply be recoded again though.

Rear tail lights on with DRL may be an issue, AIUI this is dealer only and most will not / know how to do it.

I am in Newquay over Easter if that is not to far?

2. Both rear fog lights enabled (if legal UK)

I thought that wasn't possible on the FL?

Any changes you make are obvious as the long coding is different from the factory coding. However the dealer doesn't care but Skoda HQ does notice! When my BCM was replaced under warranty after 6months the tech said when my car was linked to Skoda HQ to diagnose the issue they noticed the coding was not factory spec and reflashed the BCM back to std.

Of course this didn't fix the issue so they replaced it but said it would be better not to mess around with the coding in future. They didn't reject the claim though as I would have argued I'm only changing options that are already programmed in to the BCM and this did not contribute to the fault in any way.

To your list :

1. Cornering fog enabled - YES WITH VCDS

2. Both rear fog lights enabled (if legal UK) - NO

3. Auto dimming DRL when indicating - YES WITH VCDS

4. Rear tail lights on with DRL - YES BUT DEALER ONLY ON MK2 WITH VAS

5. Number plate light monitoring off (got LEDs) - YES WITH VCDS

Enjoy

Hi there,

You seem a knowledgeable chap! I own a Citigo and am wanting my rear lights on with my DRLs. I know it can be done because a user on this site over in Denmark or some place asked his dealer to do it and they did. Problem is, nobody on this site seems to have had it done before in the UK. I was lead to believe that it was only possible using VCDS or similar. Would you suggest that I too can have this feature enabled by VAS at the dealer? I asked them to do it and they said it wasn't possible IIRC.

Any help would be appreciated! :-)

I've not done any coding changes to a citigo yet, TBH we would need to plug in and have a root round.

If it is anything like the mk3 octavia (or any mqb) then we will be able to activate them

If it is anything like the mk2 octavia then only the Dealer VAS tool will be able to activate them.

Can anyone point me to a guide on getting cornering fogs activated and auto dimming DRLs when indicating please?

I have access to VCDS, but looked in the Diagnostics and vcds forum, but could not find anything specific for a 12 plate MK2 FL

Thanks

On the MK 2 FL you can also have a large Digital Speedo in the Maxi Dot.  Set car to Australian Mode

Think you can have Leaving/coming home lights if you have Auto Lights Fitted
