Canton sound system setup

Featured Replies

I have just taken delivery of my Octavia with Amundsen and Canton but I am a little surprised at the lack of setup features for the Canton Sound System.

The only real items I can see and change are the sub woofer level, the equaliser 'type' of voice or music and the sound focus (driver, centre or off).

Has something not been turned on/configured correctly as I was expecting a multiband equaliser at the very least.

Thanks

Ben

No multiband, just a slider for the intensity of the surround sound.

Sent from my phone so please excuse brevity and spelling

Hi Ben,

This is all you can setup...

I have Amundsen and Canton too.

It would be interesting to turn on/off the "noise cancellation" feature for example.

According to the catalogue it has an active (reverse phase) sound cancellation. I didn't know that it was interesting to read about a few weeks ago.

I'm not sure if it is really activated or not...I have to rent one of my colleagues' car for compare :)

Sorround sound is a crap (sorry) it messes up the sound.

It does something like cheap active computer speakers with this feature.

I lowered to minimum.

I must admit that the cabin noise is higher than I would have expected from a vehicle with noise cancellation.

Maybe a trip to see someone with VCDS may provide more information.

I don't think there's any active noise cancellation, though it was mentioned in official Skoda videos.

I never tried a car with active noise cancellation but I think it should work better.

I hear continious noises (e.g. tyres).

Anyway there's not to much noise in the cabin I'm satisfied with it (my previous car was a Golf mk5 with PDTDI - was really noisy).

Unfortunately there is no way to turn off the noise cancellation so there is now way to compare.

I had a test drive in a 2.0 Tdi hatch and didn't notice higher levels of cabin noise even though it was running on higher profile lower diameter wheels (which should have been quieter that my 17's).

My colleagues don't have the Canton so I have the possibility to compare :)

Maybe one day we will change cars for a day and I will listen to.

I can say that the general quality of the sound is improved over the standard bolero system and if you crank up the sub it can give you a headache very quickly.

Maybe my 8 year old son has a sub woofer 'cos he can do the same!!
