Dash resembles a Christmas tree...

Featured Replies

Afternoon all.

Popped down to the tip in Melton at lunchtime and noticed I had 3 warning lights on. They only illuminated on the way, with no audible warning.

Pulled up at the tip, engine off, chucked all the crap out and started up again. All lights disappeared. Happy days. Whilst in first and second gear pulling away from the tip, the TCS light began to flash and there was a lot of jerking up to about 20 mph (I accelerated fairly slowly in case the clutch was not happy so that I didn't shred it with torque) then this stopped and I got all three lights again. Now they won't go off.

As the TPM uses the ABS sensor, my initial thoughts are that one of them has reported a fault, otherwise it seems odd that the TPM light would be on too. Currently I don't have VCDS handy (although have messaged a member locally just now to enquire about using his) any other thoughts on what it could be.

There was no discernible difference on the drive home with the lights on. Does having these lights on mean that the ABS/TCS etc isn't working or do they continue to function if something throws a wobbly? I only ask as I have jobs scheduled in Surrey and Edinburgh over the next 5 days and wondered how serious the implications are. If I have no ABS etc then I'll get a hire vehicle in lieu of time to sort this out before I leave on Thursday morning.

All advice/thoughts appreciated.

Rob

I'd guess a sensor or more probably a rusty sensor ring in the hub. Rear left is the usual culprit.

ABS isn't working when the lights are on. I drove mine for a month like that waiting on it to go in to get fixed.

I drove in the days before ABS was on everything so I wasn't too fazed by not having it for a bit.

It's an MOT fail but not illegal to drive.
