Tyre Fitting

Featured Replies

I've gone and splashed out on some new Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD-3 tyres in 225/45, which look very nice.

Unfortunatly they're in the back of my car and not on the wheels.

So, can anyone recommend a good tyre fitter in the Nottingham area?

The fitter I was going to use have decided to shut for the next couple of saturdays and I have to work during the week.

Eagle F1's are cracking, stonking grip in both wet and dry.

But my last set only lasted 8k, so I won't be fitting them again.

Try myTyres.co.uk for a list of fitting companies.

Cheers,

I've always been fine with my local ATS...? They seem to change tyres often enough to get it right, although my car may need some wheel alignment soon - Not ATS' fault, but mine probably from the odd small impact. It pulls gently to the left when I release the steering wheel, but it IS really gentle.

PS: How back IS the Octy boot..? When I got my wheels I could only get ONE (box) in the boot and the rest had to sit on the rear seats.

How BIG is the Octy boot? ;)

If you shout into it, you can hear an echo :D

Seroiusly, I'm only a shortar5e, but I have to kneel on the edge of the boot and s t r e t c h to reach the front cargo rings. It will take a couple of large suitcases and a selection of holdalls. 1,000 taxi drivers can't be wrong :)

mytyres.co.uk don't seem to list Nottingham.

However I don't think Loughborough is too far (as long as I don't get lost in a town I've barely heard of, never mind been too).

Maybe I could try ATS, as long as they aren't bothered by me supplying my own tyres.

The Octavia's boot is large enough that four wheels will fit in upright against the back seat.

It's huge!

You could take weeks exploring it. Find lost civilisations.

:)

Boot is huge......I managed to get 4 large suitcases and 2 pieces of hand luggue in the back. Had to take the parcel shelf out though.

yeah yeah yeah, typo spotted...

I have to collapse the rear seats SO often to transport anything, it's silly. That's the negative side of owning a short-ar5ed car, I guess. Although rear legroom is still OK.

Edit: ATS weren't too bothered about me asking them to put the new tyres on my new alloys, but then alloys isn't their market, tyres are... However, if they're sensible, they'll just agree a rate like

Thanks guys.

Found a place near my work to do the fitting.

I'll let you know how the new wider stickyier rubber feels.

Got the F1s fitted today, went out to Ripley to get it done.

Cost was 52 ukp including fitting one of the old contis to the spare.

Total bill is 464 ukp, not bad.

So far it seems good, sterring is a little heavier (which is good at speed) and ride is a little better.

Grip is great but I don't know how much that is done to the type of tyre or that the old contis were completly shot.:D

You'd think with the extortionate prices they charge they'd be able to get better m*nkeys ....

They do, but in Geoff's home town they don't last very long... ;) ;) :D
