CG Motorsport clutch

I'm in need of a new clutch ASAP, been thinking of getting the paddle clutch kit they do, anyone used if for before?

I'm fine with paddle clutches as all my previous cars have used them, even down to a 3 paddle one lol.

Can't see the point myself in a road car when plenty of choice in uprated clutches available :)

You might be ok with them, but it will affect the resale of your car without a doubt as they are horrible things used daily.

Also unless your going big power I would stick to a decent DMF, the noise from the gearbox once a SMF is fitted is depressing and sounds aweful :(

I have had a 6 paddle and dmf for around 45k, with 230bhp 418lbft, car drove hard but not abused. Flywheel starting to knock abit now.

good to know the DMF will take that power for so many miles :)

Really hate the rattling mine makes due to SMF :(

I'm very happy with the clutch. It's very easy to life with. My mum and girlfriend can drive the car with out any hassle. Still haven't decided if I will buy their solid flywheel kit or not next time

Dual mass flywheels can die at standard bhp so you takes your chances.

Id only recommend a smf for a seriously powered track focused fabia vrs

A remapped fabia with an smf may be a hard car to sell

what sort of bhp can these duel mass flywheels take before the fall apart?

 

 

well mine has been in 40,000 miles and was on a hybrid before hand, it all depends on how you drive them

 

if it ever need replaced i shall be fitting the same after hearing the SMF setup there are truly awful

The louder they are the better (lighter)

An smf in a proper big turbo car is bloody awesome to drive.

All depends what the end goal is

I don't care about reselling. I don't buy a car to sell on.

Well I need to find out if there clutch fits a dmf.

Anyone got a video of the cg smf flywheel to show noise ?

They sound awful,which is what silky was on about.
 
Performance wise have you got/can you link to back to back testing to show they improve performance?  
 
Silkys as above is running over 250bhp on DMF, mines on basically same spec but with SMF and ran 243bhp and both similar torque

The Sachs OEM is rumoured to be rated at or around 300 ft.lb.

 

Driving style really dictates the life of a DMF in my eyes.  Obviously the delivery (i.e. a smooth map and / or torque limiting), tied with driving style will equal a DMF's life span.

 

As mentioned, I also know of many folks who run more than 300 ft.lb on a DMF with no problem.

Less transmission loses due to lower weight

I don't think anyone will have a back to back rr run thats for sure.

Try a dmf then drop the box and stick a smf in lol

But from other cars i have owned going to a lightweight flywheel has made a world of difference

In my old 306 Rallye it revved 'slightly' faster due to fitting a billet very light flywheel, but not enough to warrant the price you pay for them imo.
 
Joe's VRS runs the sane turbo as mine,2.2 bar of boost but running a DMF and feeld no different to mine, just sounds way nicer as it has no transmission rattles!
 
Another thing is I know of three cars with the same turbo as mine, two of them mapped by Faboka, joe's mapped by darkside, and all three of these boost earlier than mine with logs to proove.
All three of these are still running DMF's, mines SMF.
So perhaps the SMF helps the revs higher in the range, but where the most performance is gained with our dervs it does not improve low down boost/pick up.

Just be happy in the knowledge at that bhp they will be replacing them like i replace tyres.

Be safe in the knowledge you have a fit and forget item. Future proof

(Until you hear it at idle and you'll remember you fitted it)

It's all down to personal preference I would say. 

 

There are products which will handle the big turbo power no probs, but as some people have found, they can have some draw-backs depending on how you find the sound. 

 

We can all read and know that clutch "A" with take xxx bhp & xxx lbs but as with all the posts and threads, what other people say won't make much difference if they have a differing opinion to you. 

 

Between now and when my OEM clutch gives up the ghost (hopefully not for a while as it's only ~17k old) I plan to go in some different Fabia's with different clutches to form my own opinion as asking people what clutch to buy just doesn't wash for me. You need to go and experience it for yourself and make a decision.
