What is wrong with me?

Featured Replies

Pretty basic question here... Besides my dad and two of my friends, everyone keep telling me that my Roomster i so incredibly ugly. For some reason I just don't see it. I think it is an utterly superb and really great looking car. Am I alone on this one? Please se the attached pic...

I can understand you since I believe, as many others here, that Roomster is the most beautiful ugly car. It has its own personality.

Don't worry Jespo03, you are not alone  :)

Like you, I love the Roomster's individual, non-mainstream looks.

It is one of the many reasons that even now, after five years of ownership, I can think of no other car I would rather own.

From the side view the Roomster really does have looks that only its mother could love.

I have had all the jibes from my workmates - "Ice cream van, Popemobile..." but I just laugh it off because I know that the true beauty is under the skin

I take great pleasure in reminding workmates of their jibes when they want something moved but don't want to pay the cost of hiring a van.  For some reason, they take exception when I call their cars "Sardine Cans"  :giggle:

I thought it was a bit of an odd car when I first bought it, but the practicality won out. Now I find the looks have grown on me, and I actually like the looks. Kids too - complain in every other car they go in, but with the high back seats and large windows it is the car they always request we use.

My only disappointment so far is not being able to get a massive corner sofa from Harveys in the back due to the top sides curving inwards slightly. But if I was that desperate to own a box on wheels I could have bought a Doblo.

.

I know the feeling!  2 grandkids (3 & 6) have VERY long faces if we turn up to take them out in SWMBO's Yaris!

They do have a complaint though!  The Roomster doesn't have pull down trays in the seat backs like daddy's car but when I told them they would be too busy looking out of the huge windows and sunroof I did get a "Oh yeah!!"

I love it and am thinking about getting one to run along side my Superb.

When people ask why do you drive a Roomster....I tell them I start trends but seldom follow them  :sun:

I nearly did (got as far as buying a Roomster) but went for a Yeti because starting with a 1.8 turbo and 4x4 makes things much easier... and cheaper! :D

Cheaper? I would be interested to know how!

It was in reference to the comment immediately above mine.

I seem to have somehow got a reputation for a bit of tuning.

A Roomster of mine would have a fair bit of tweaking and probably 300bhp.

Hence cheaper to start with a larger engine and more traction of 4x4 in a Yeti.

Obviously as a straight purchase a standard Roomster is the cheaper option.

They are one of the most odd cars going when viewed from the side, but even so there is something about a Roomster that makes me want one.

Why conform and drive a boring car? :)

Didn't you have a Roomster last yr :D

I feel a BossFox Roomster VRS project thread coming on!

there is a few 2.4l V8 F1 engines knocking round , 1 careful owner, only couple of hundred miles on clock

sure boss fox could do something with one of them

:) :) :)

Noo I reckon what he wants to do engine wise is swap PD105 for PD130 then tune the PD130 like his old 09 VRS maybe even wizards of nos :o I'm sure he'd be pushing 340bhp then it's KW V3, bushes, big brakes etc

I think BossFox's Fabia shopping spree, along with suddenly having 3 nice trackmobiles (Nissan GTRs and the 1.8 yeti) and 2 decent cars has cured him of whatever he caught waiting for the CityNoShow

... for now :giggle:

Exactly, there is already a VRoomster. :)

I think anyone who says a Roomster is ugly isn't looking at it hard enough and merely thinking it's a vehicle along the lines of the Berlingo/Multipla.

One of the reasons I bought my Scout before the Rapid was the looks. Love the wider, squat rear end and thought the bodywork looked quite modern and funky in a good metallic colour contrasting with the odd shaped sunset glass windows.

See a facelift Scout on 17s round these parts in silver and still think it looks great.
