Greenline so far

Ahh right I see why! Their software dose not allow them functions such as that! It would have to be a version of VCDS rather than dealer software which is limited in adaptions!

Ey?

You saying that a main dealer has a much more limited capability with all the expensive gear they have at their disposal, than an average 'Joe' on the street could have?

I'm staggered if that's the case.

  • The Greenline is a fabulous car. The economy is beyond belief and the engine surprisingly perky. I love mine.

  • You may be surprised, I compare my calculated mpg with maxi-dot and throughout the winter the maxi-dot was pessimistic not optimistic. My latest fill up was, actual 60.8mpg, maxi-dot 59.9mpg.    I a

I've had a greenline elegance estate here for 4,000 miles now (8,000 on it when I bought it).  Mixture of motorway & a roads mostly - more commuting of late too - 'real' MPG average is 63.  Thrill

I DO have a very simple hammer however if that might help?  :D

Noo my bad it's just harder to access on their systems I didn't fully read a thread before replying!

Hi Greenline owners.

Any thoughts on towing with this engine? I am hoping to tow a folding camper, max weight 1000kg. I am undecided whether to get the 2.0 140 or the greenline.

No towing experience but when I bought my 140tdi I also test drove the 1.6tdi and it felt really under powered, OK on the flat but struggled to overtake at motorway speeds on anything with an incline. It sounds like a great car in many respects and judging by the threads on here lots of owners feel it's got enough everyday oomph but I can't see how you'd manage to get it to tow another 1000kg.

Probably agree with that^^^ It's a perky thing, but NOT a rocket ship.

Not sure I'd like to tow 1000kg behind it tbh.

It would do it legally, but would be a bit of a struggle probably, especially on the hills and overtaking.

Gorgeous cruiser though.

So, sitting there in the car park this evening, hoping the rain would ease off so i could go for a walk without yet ANOTHER drenching, and decided to read this Skoda version of War and Peace to entertain myself.

Did you know....'cus i didn't...that the mirrors will fold in if you hold the lock button on the key fob for two seconds?

Did you know....'cus I didn't...that the outside door mirrors also dim if the interior mirror dimming facility is switched on?

Did you know....'cus i didn't...that the n/s mirror only adjusts downwards when you select reverse gear, if the mirror adjustment toggle position is set to the left hand position?

This car is still conjuring up suprise features!

The rain got heavier btw, so I came home.  :wall:

N.Wales NEVER conjure's up suprises on the weather front.

These are some of the more obvious tricks. There are a few more subtle ones too.

Did you know that for every 3-4 (can't remember exactly) times you switch off the ignition the wiper arms move into a slightly different position to prevent fatigue of the rubber by being left in the same position.

Clever eh....

There's also a rain closing option which allows you to leave the windows and sunroof open, lock the car and they'll close automatically if it rains.

I knew about that one, yes. Didn't know about the wiper re-adjustment though.

So, let's be realistic about this.  I have a Greenline Estate weighing in at 1,477kgs - with 105bhp - around 7bhp per 100kg solo.  I've towed 1,700kg caravan with my 2005 Hyundai Sante Fe without a worry - a heavier unladen beast (1,793kgs) and with 111bhp - around 6bhp per 100kgs solo.  The Greenline will tow a 1,000kgs with it's eyes closed!!  It will neither struggle or be an issue on the hills.  Trust me....

Coincidentally, I bought a Pennine Pathfinder at the weekend - towed it home with the Sante fe (as it has a towbar) - and am considering putting a towbar on the Superb.

Not sure what wireless I've got in this car of mine, but it's a DAB jobbie.

Now it may be my imagination as I'm really not well up on wireless matters, but it doesn't seem quite as powerful and 'basey' as the one I had in my vRS last year. That had a multichanger in it too, and this one doesn't. No big deal really though.

I have done all the tone adjustments before anyone stated the obvious.

There's no name on it btw, so no, I don't know which one it is.

Touch screen jobbie that looks the same as the last one is all I can tell you.

Well that's us two firmly told then ey?

I bow to your experience on this matter, as I haven't actually towed with mine.

For the facelift model I seem to recall that the S came with a Swing and the SE came with Bolero touchscreen "wireless" (also known as a radio). The upgrade to DAB radio and sat nav was to Amundsen.

Hope this makes sense. Off to listen to my record player now! :)

I'd love to be able to agree with your dealer that they can't be turned off   :D  but I'm afraid he is wrong.

I can 100% say for sure that they can be turned off using VCDS. I've no doubt that the dealer software is equally as capable but the issue is the dealers themselves are the problem, they really are clueless (most of them) which is a real shame.

The Elegance has a Columbus with DAB as standard, and it isn't as 'basey' as you might like/want it to be, hence the optional upgrade 10 speaker system for £330.

I've got used to mine now so find it ok as standard.

Edited by cnc

I probably wouldn't have ordered it as an extra but the 10 speaker upgrade (canton system) is a big improvement on the standard system and I love the sound.  Having said that it can be a case of what you never had you never miss!

Yea, it's not a major problem, and more than listenable to, it was just that the one in the vRS seemed to be a bit superior iirc?

This one sounds a bit weak and tinny by comparison, in fact, I'd go so far as to say that the standard unit in my Fabia vRS gives a better quality of sound!

P'raps the Octy  had the option 10 speaker system fitted by the previous owner, dunno.

Lol, sorry - didn't mean to come across like that!  I just see so much comment re power these days (I work in distribution and back in the day when I was an LGV driver, would regularly drive 25 ton artics with only 170bhp...which required thought on inclines but managed it perfectly well.....  and nowdays it's just become common place to think we need the biggest most powerful trucks (cars) to tow 'owt....

Thats great to hear!

I would be really interested to hear about your towbar fitting and how you get on pulling the Pathfinder.
