Do you use anything in your engine/diesel

Featured Replies

i was just wondering if any body uses any engine treatments and diesel,

if so what and if any good,i use grease lightning in my 52 nissan navra 2.5.

:)

Skoda strongly advise against the use of any addivites in your engine, to do so will void your warranty.

Just good clean oil , the right type , keep it topped up , change to schedule or better . Anything wrong , dealer /warranty/skoda/ . Result

cheers guys

I USE WITH CASTROL SLX LUCAS OIL STABILIZER (PURE SYNTHETIC) THIS WILL NOT VOID NEW CAR WARRANTIES BECAUSE IT IS 100% PETROLEUM BASED NOT LIKE ALL THE OTHER MAKES THAT CONTAIN TEFLON SuLPHUR OR PTFE Additives.

ITS NOT THAT WELL KNOWN IN GB BUT LUCAS OILS ARE THE WORLD LEADER IN OIL ADDITIVES GO TO WWW.LUCASOIL.COM . ITS AMERICAN SO THE WORDING MIGHT BE ODD TO SOME OF YOU.

IF ANY ONE IS RUNNING MODIFIED MOTORS DIESEL OR PETROL AUTO OR MANUAL THEY WILL HAVE THE BEST STUFF FOR YOUR MOTOR .

I FIND MY CAR IDLES QUIETER AND I GET BETTER MPG AND DONT USE ANY OIL

IF YOU LIVE IN FIFE VISIT ESSPORT CAR ACCESSORIES (10 MIN FROM KNOCKHILL CIRCUIT)

THEY HAVE FUEL TREATMENTS, GEAR OILS, ATF FLUID (RACE SPEC) NOT ANY MORE EXPENSIVE THAT THE USUAL **** IN HALFORDS BUT FAR FAR SUPERIOR IN EVERY WAY

IF THEY USE LUCAS PRODUCTS IN 6000HP DRAG CARS THEN I THINK ITS WELL WORTH THE PIECE OF MIND FOR MY LITTLE 180HP OCTY

I use biodiesel in my Furby vRS, at a 5% dilution, so I guess that counts as an additive. This is approved by Skoda, and it quietens the engine, makes it run smoother and all but eliminates smoke, for virtually no loss of power.

never heard of biodiesel? do you add it to the fuel as you'd add octane booster to a petrol car (through the petrol cap)?

You can either buy it pre-mixed with mineral diesel (5% bio, 95% mineral diesel) - Rix, Greenergy and some Tesco's have bio-blend pumps.

Or you can buy 100% biodiesel and mix it yourself with whatever your favourite diesel is, which is what I do.

In France, biodiesel is commonly mixed with all pump diesel, so you can't escape it.

A Google search on 'biodiesel' will give you all the details.

I thought the whole point of synthetic oils was that they weren't petroleum based?

And why so shouty?

Have just been looking at bio deisel on the net, the only Tesco stores that sell it are nearly all down South and it seems to be quite a bit cheaper. About 15-16p a litre. Come on Tesco, lets start selling the stuff up North. Preferably in the Tesco extra at Southport

Cheaper? The stuff at the pump in Tesco Andover is 2p more a litre than regular city diesel  Have you got a link with that info? :D

Chris

Sorry, I can't find a link, I was looking at figures somewhere. Maybe they were out of date, sorry if I got your hopes up with the low price.

SORRY NOT CLEAR ENOUGH COS THEY DO 2 PRODUCTS. BUT SYNTHETIC STILL COMES OUT THE GROUND LIKE ANYTHING ELSE IT JUST GETS REFINED TO SUCH AN EXTENT WITH OTHER ADDITIVES ITS NO LONGER CLASSED AS MINERAL

WHY SO SHOUTY COS THERE PRODUCTS ARE SO GOOD COMPARED TO OTHER BRANDS LIKE CASTROL, SLICK 50 ECT ECT :P

cheers for your input guys

I use Milers diesel extra (or whatever its called) in every tank of fuel. I dont put anything in the oil, as I dont see the need of voiding any warranty of my car.

As for caps/shouting, its considered impolite and bad etiquette to type in caps. No matter how good you feel they (your product/conpany) to be, please refrain from typing in caps.
