VRS wheel dilema ?

Featured Replies

Had my Vrs now for almost 2 years now and the nearside alloys are looking far from their best (slight kerbing due to a nutty white van driver & loose stones causing minor chips).

Do I have them refurbed (painted or poweder coated) or do I purchase a new set of after market Alloys.

I have been quoted £335 for power coating and £200 for painting - both are tyre off, back on and rebalanced.

A set of 4 aftermarket alloys are ~ £400 will they be as good as the originals ?

What have others done when in the same position ?

Might be a bit far for you, but I have just dropped my wheels off at Bradford (CAS coatings). They do powder coating for £1+VAT per inch (plain colors, i.e. white and black), I am doing mine at £1.50+vat per inch in gunmetal grey, so worked out at £130 for a set of 18".

I used cas coatings for my winter alloys...cheap and cheerful...but I wanted a better finish/result

I used The Wheel specialist for my Neptune's. ..Twice the price but better than new....... £300

Hi Chris,

There is a Wheel Specialist franchise in St Albans (8miles from home) who can turn them around in a day, I saw yours in Black Chrome and was really taken with them - which wheel nut covers would you go for - black or silver/grey ?

I have chrome covers from eBay
