Yeti 140 4x4 dsg or manual ?

Featured Replies

I'm with the majority on this - the 140TD and DSG is a brilliant combination.  More than one passenger has commented on how good the gear change is, virtually unnoticeable in normal use yet as fast as lightning if getting away from traffic lights quickly.  I don't miss the lack of paddles - my other ride (Jaguar XF) has them and I rarely use them despite driving quite hard sometimes.

The only thing to watch with the DSG is not to leave it in gear when stationary on the handbrake (the clutch partially engages).  Stationary with footbrake on is OK as the clutch is disengaged, although at night the driver behind may not appreciate bright brake lights in his face (but that's another well-worn topic).

My only issue with DSG was inching forwards or backwards, especially up a hill. It is an art which needs to be learnt.

I roll up to a stoppage in neutral and use handbrake.

Very few don't stand on their brakes day or night.

An "art" which is impossible to master, in the 2010(ish) production batch of dry 7 speed DSG equipped vehicles (across diesels and petrols)

That drop out of gear, due to ignoring throttle pentiometer input, and throw a "gateway communication error/failure" fault code.

If asked to manouver at low throttle openings on an incline.

A software fault that Skoda CANNOT resolve, other than clearing the fault code and wrongly describing the displayed behavouir as "a slight hesitation in pulling away"

Climbing ramps for servicing was a bit strange.......not sure how much clutch slip is going on an daren't charge up for fear of going over the top.

Has anybody refined that procedure?

I doubt it!
