Superb L&K 4 months review.

Featured Replies

Well cannot believe I have had this car for 4 months. 2500 miles.. Taken to walking a lot  :notme:

COMFORT: Very comfortable, seats ideal for someone my size ( no not a midget just ft5 inch7.5.

Like the seat cooling in hot weather, one day so far! Heating and cooling for the whole car very good and SWMBO can now set her own temperature. Twin boot a boon.

Thought the rather thick A pillars would be a proem but got used to them now.

MPG; Around town 39 to 45 depending on weather and how quickly I get into 5th, currently on reaching 32 mph. Long journey to Portsmouth 69 mpg.

COLUMBUS: Well no one's perfect but does what I want to do and the Sat Nav is a vast improvement on my old Mk1. Sound system excellent. TV works well while waiting to pick up various members of the family. Like the way it mutes the sound when in reverse.

BODYWORK: Black, washed throughly when I bought it and polished it with a polymer then a good coating of Canuba wax. Shines like it's in the showroom and water leaps off like lemmings at the cliff edge. Interior ivory so far so good, but cannot understand why Rugby players don't see the need to get changed  before sitting in my car

RIDE: Well now we are getting to the bit that most owners seem to gripe about and I am one of them. Since settling on rear tyres at 2.5 bar and front on 2.3 bar the ride has improved particularly as some of the "stiffness" appears to have settled.  One big issue I am concerned about and I would like to know if anyone else is sensing this...... when I drive over a rut the driver side sounds if the doors are about to fall off. Difficult in these circumstances to to describe a sound but there is quite a disturbing sound like a door out of alinement the type you get with an ageing car ( a bit like me really ). My intention is to go back to the dealer and try and replicate it but before I do has anyone experienced similar problems?

LOW PROFILE TYRES: What on earth are they good for. First week out pothole blow out at 60 mph. Each road bump and pot hole feels so uncomfortable but on a good surface a very pleasant drive.

HEATED WINDSCREEN: Proof there is a god. Excellent

PARK ASSIST: Used twice to show off. The front sensors are very useful when in a tight spot

TELEPHONE CONNECTIVITY: iPhone 4S no problem, sound quality excellent

CONCLUSION: A very worthwhile buy, on the whole very pleased with it. If the ride could be smoothed out I would be a very happy chap but I am getting used to it. Would I recommend it ... definitely.

Since settling on rear tyres at 15 bar and front on 12 bar the ride has improved particularly as some of the "stiffness" appears to have settled.

Are you sure this is right? That seem like a hell of a lot of pressure, and if you meant PSI, then it doesn't seem like nearly enough.  :nerd:

Is it 1.2 and1.5? which is low, I'm on 36/38 psi after having wall damage fro A (!) road pot holes. It seems a lot of Audi drivers suffer the same was so up the pressures.

Wooops! thanks lads your observations skills are wonderful, yes It should read 2.5 and 2.3. I will change the numbers

Haha, I was going to say it's no wonder the ride could be improved if you had that much air in the tyres.  :D

Agree with you on the low profiles and ride.  Leaving the tyre pressures aside which seem very high (but maybe you have good reason for that) I find the ride on mine is not improving as I hoped it might.  It is constantly pulling to the left despite having everything checked out several times.  I am guessing that maybe the lower profile tyres are more sensitive to the road camber (??)  Its going in for its first service next week so we will see.

On the doors I would go back to the dealer.  I have had that before on Octavias and it required some adjusting. Does it sound like the door is moving up and down slightly (or creaking a bit?)

--> Raptor, if you want to minimize risk of blowing up the tire in pothole - 2,3bar is on low side. I am keeping 2.6-2.8, so far so good.

Hi Superb 170, thanks for that yes it does so,I will take it in and ask them to look at it.

Thanks LS 108, will try your pressures ans see how it feels

I have found that for me my best tyre pressure is 35-36psi.
