Something else to bear in mind is that a three cylinder engine can sound less busy than a four at the same revs.

The only way to be sure it is right for you is to take a proper test drive.

To be honest there are far nicer places to be than a city car on the motorway!

Bearable, but a bigger car is likely to be more quiet/comfortable & even my Octavia Vrs diesel will be as economical.

Have to say that with having a Yeti and a Citigo, I don't find it a great problem when SWMBO and I swap cars (my commute is 25 miles- 50% motorway, 50% urban). The Yeti is bigger and more comfortable but when driving the Citigo it is surprisingly easy to forget it is a "city" car and not something bigger.

 

Only thing I wish we had ordered is cruise control but it's not a huge problem.

Or if you like the Yaris, have you considered finding a 1.4D-4D available in 3- or 5-doors, just took a peep in Autotrader at 9yrs old and found one of each in green, both around 50,000 miles, quoted mpg averages at 64, around £4,000. Around 400 cars UK-wide at 9yrs old, from around £1,800. Never driven one, gather the first BMW Mini diesel used this Toyota engine, might be worth a try.... Or a Mk 1 Fabia 1.4tdi?
