Very very slight water leak

Featured Replies

Literally 1 drop per 10 minutes, and it's dripping from and leaking down to the front little mud flappy thing in front of the n/s front wheel.

Can't see any dampness from the bottom of the rad, and the level in the expansion tank is fine.

Got to be the washer bottle or associated pipe works /connections do you think?

Know problem by chance?  :notme:

Get someone under and spray it if they get wet then they can spot it and you get a good laugh hehe

Nah. Haven't used the washers for a while now, but it's still dripping...if that's what it is?

Hole in the tank or dodgily seated motor?

Dunno without taking it out.

I was just wondering if there'd been any other members with this problem in the past/present?

Place some kitchen towel underneath the drip to gather some onto the towel, what colour is the water as that should tell you what it is.

Condensation off aircon condensor maybe

Taste it, if its sweet its probably coolant/water.

That's what I'd do. If its screen wash it will taste soapy.

If its condensation it won't taste of anything.

If you've been using the aircon then it's condensation and it's supposed to drip, end of.

if its none of the above and is coolant related im sure they do a coolant stop leak bottle now in halfords

From your description of the drip location, it has to be screenwash or power steering fluid.  Take off the nearside front wheel, and arch liner plastic, and you'll have excellent viewing opportunities for both:

Most likely screenwash, from the point where there's a suspiciously unoriginal looking tyrap on ours in the picture.

Yes I would probably say more likely your washer bottle as the air con condensation tends to be under the car near the back of the near side of the under tray (from my experience anyway).

Good pic by the way wino. Is that of an earlier power steering pump that didn't come with the jacket thing on it or have you taken it off?

Err, it's an 05 plate car. As far as I know it never had a jacket on the PAS pump, but we've only had the car 2 or 3 years; who knows what happened before then.

Had a new rad fitted last night that gave me the opportunity to look at this as per your picture.

It was indeed weeping from where the pump and pipe joins up to the bottle.

All sorted, and thank you!

Mr Ree can you mark this as solved now :) ?
