This is what mine is like. I have to use a fair amount of force to get it much higher.

Mine too, I can't force mine to hit the armrest.

Not sure if its just me but I cant see alot wrong with the handbrake; your seat side bolster is sagging badly already however. The upholstery quality in Skodas is one of the few things that really let them down; full leather in my Mk2 vRS was pants, the alcantara/leather in the Mk3 really is not much if at all better.

Oh the joy of having a DSG...

Here, here  .

I hope you boys are not just relying on the park mechanism on your very expensive DSG to hold the car!!??

That will come back to bite you some day!

hmm, quite different to mine!

Interesting. I was aware of the clash, as I'd noticed that when I pulled the handbrake I was sliding the armrest back slightly with it, but I wasn't aware that it was 'denting' the handbrake. I checked today and sure enough it's as described by others on here.

I have learnt from this thread though that the armrest goes up as well as forward, I would never have known! [emoji2] The first notch up is sufficient to clear it for me, although it does make pulling the handbrake a little awkward.

In all honesty I'm not overly bothered. If the car proves to be reliable and the interior trim is free from rattles, a slight mark on the handbrake is neither here nor there for me.

The strange is that driver seat doesn't look the same and the car has only got 1800miles.

You better not let your wife see you blaming her for that  :D

Very interesting that there is such a difference in pics above.

When I get back I must check how far up I am pulling it (i dont over do it).

Maybe a handbrake tightening might do it.

Any chance you could measure the height your handbrake tip/button is at relative to plastic beside cigarette lighter.

I'll measure that tomorrow!

Just to double check Frallen you have extended the armrest forward in your photo havent you?

Yep, it's maxout and as low as it could be.

It's almost 10cm I'm unsure of the exact inch

(why do you use inch, stone, arm, foot.

I'm 5foot and 3 stones damn how big feet do you have? How much do those stones weight?)

Thanks...I will measure mine when I get back. Is that as far as handbrake will go? (ie fully tight or would there be a little more movement in it?)

Just to confirm....Is yours RHD?

Lhd And it's as hard as I could pull without braking something.

Regarding the seat wing, in time you'll be hoovering up yellow dust in the rear footwell, my Passat Sport did this along with the top of the door card deforming and splitting simply under the weight of an arm resting on it,

I don't think the seat is limited to VAG cars though, I've seen Insignia seats look like this as well and even dare I say it BMW ones after short periods of time, I guess iof you have a Kate Moss ass you'll be ok though. :D

Not sure why there is a LHD/RHD issue.....as looking at Frallens photo (LHD car) in terms of handbrake layout seems to be same as RHD i.e. handbrake left....lighter right

Mine is about 5mm higher..... saying that there is a little bit of clearance between handbrake & armrest now. Maybe I'm pulling it a little too hard (gonna mention it to dealer to see if adjustment possible).

you be careful pulling too hard.  you'll go blind...  ;)

Just checked mine, and thats the same. With armrest fully forward, the handbrake hits it. I hardly ever use it in the forward position though, so havent really bothered about it. Amazingly though, despite hardly ever having it in the forward position, there is a mark on the handbrake handle.

Either that was parked for a long time before i received it with the armrest in the forward position, or the handbrake handle dents extremely easily, and wont lose the dent.

I reckon a bit of both.
