I'm guessing this ain't right? Uploaded a vid.

Featured Replies

I was under the car today to check the bottom boost pipe again as the cars hissing like a bag of angry cats, and came across this, which I suspect is the problem judging by the amount of play in it and the oil around. I hear some play is normal, but this looks forked to me?

In the vid I'm using very little force to move it, just a light wiggle with the fingers.

Recorded it the wrong way and was breathing like a bit of a rapist, sorry....

I'd say that's a little dead.

Yup that's porked.

Now comes the fun bit of replacing it. I bet it's not going to be cheap

OEM replacement is not cheap, true. There are aftermarket versions in flurosilicone...

Still feels like robbery considering what it is, but I'm more than likely going to go that route than OEM

Or I might even try a second hand jobby for the time being. I want to spend some money on shinys for the car, yet I can't cause I keep having to buy boring things like console bushes, discs, pads and wheel bearings!

Don't waste money on secondhand, the pipe you buy could well end up the same as soon as its fitted or a short time afterwards. They all seem to fail at some point, so better to buy new,

I've got one lieing about mate, the full bottom pipe from intercooler to turbo, no leaks. can have it for £40 if you want, p.m me.

Yea for sure, just tempting to try and save a bit as funds are tight at the moment, due to all things car related lol

Cheers for the offer, but think I'll probably bite the bullet and get a Forge one

Rather than buying a Forge one, you could fashion your own by buying the couplers for both ends and a silicone hose for the middle.

Cheaper couplers can be bought from creation Motorsport on eBay (circa £20). I've got one on mine and it's a decent connection.

I've got a replacement OEM coupler you can buy off me if it's just the turbo end coupler that needs replacing.

Yea that's what I've done for the top

Not sure about what hose to use from the turbo though as the silicone will have to deal the the heat and oil. What degree is the bend?

Looks like it needs to be a reducer though unfortunately. One thing that worries me about the DIY route is the couplers, as they have a massive internal diameter compared to the OEM ones, and with it being directly off the turbo it might introduce a load of lag?

Beeehhh. I can't be arsed, just ordered the Forge one.

Going to have a look to the dealers and get a couple fresh O rings

There are piccies somewhere, comparing the i/d of Forge/Darkside/ANOther couplers.

A-ha!

As shown, the compressor outlet nozzle seems quite small. I guess the larger turbos have bigger cross sections on their outlets.

Anyways, going from smaller to larger along the air path shouldn't cause too much of an issue.
