Lloyd55vrs are u still running a standard ko3s turbo as I'm intrigued to how you going to get an oversized to fit! A tip is my next purchase and duno wat one to buy, funnily Enuff I want a blue one ;)

It can be a bit of a squeeze, but it'll fit fine. Be interesting if you notice a difference compared to the Forge item.

Good luck with the fitting. i try and do everything myself and if I can't and start throwing spanners around then I give to the professionals to sort out lol. if u sell ur forge I'm very interested cus if it's bin on a car I know it fits and that will make me determined to fit it myself!

:D and its done like 3000 miles or something ha ha

Bowders got his weirdy tip to fit, they r the k03s listed ones and they got my engine code so i wouldve thunk it would be ok lol

We shall see, if in doubt throw it out :D

Guna get a look a bowders pics now I wanna see if I can see his one. I've thrown out nearly all the pipes in my car as there all like jelly after my car only doing 1000 miles in4 years before I rescued it from previous owner

He did a tech fit thing :)

It really isn't rocket science! For ~£120, the SFS oversized TIP has got to be the best on the market. Or the R-tech equivalent if they have them in stock and you need the extension to move the MAF over.

Here's a comparison between a stock rubber pipe with Neuspeed elbow and the SFS oversized girth monster:

Wow! There is a big difference between them seeing them side by side like that

Hi all

I fitted an oversized tip just over a week ago now it is such a tight fit if you got your standard air box the dump valve an hocky puk are closer together too

You need to undo the Allen bolt for the water pipe but the tip is so big I couldn't get mine to go back on :-)

Get some exhaust heat wrap too it sits rather close to the engine so better to be safe then sorry I have a AUQ but I'm sure all vrs are the same?

I also fitted the THS intercooler such a nice cooler an fits nice to the pancake replacement pipe does work but u need to make a new mount for it because it's about an inch out of place I will try get some pics up for you too see :-)

I dont have the airbox anymore

How do u hold heat wrap on ? Cable ties will melt i assume ?

  • Author

Found some and metal ties

Did u wrap it before put in place

What's the intrigue? Oversize is just the diameter of the lower section and makes no change to the actual fitting diameter top and bottom they remain the same. :D

The std size Tips just run very small at the lower section as per the pics of them side by side.

It can be a bit of a squeeze, but it'll fit fine. Be interesting if you notice a difference compared to the Forge item.

It is a squeeze to get lower section down between the water pipe and turbo but can be done if you remove the allen bolt on the pipe.

You will be fine dude....

Just follow my guide mate....

Yep it is tight and the std air box does not make it easy. Lloyd has a CAI like mine so is a lot easier to get the tip to join the MAF.

The bolt that holds the water pipe must be removed as will struggle big time with it in place. I managed to refit my bolt back too. Makes it a lot easier with airbox removed and the SAI delete , Breather simplification mods to see the pipe and refit bolt.

Don't think you need heat wrap as it is not much different to the old tip and to get wrap around it must be well difficult. I left my bottom hose clamp loose until I connected to MAF and was able to shift the pipe a little to get best position.

I too had a THS pancake pipe but removed it after it got holed by the ARB drop link bolt (even after i angle grind-ed bolt down) Be interested to see pics of how your is fitted as i did think that made a slight difference over std pipe.

Mind you I am getting bits ready to do a FMIC conversion and remove my Forge FMIC. I will probably not use the pancake pipe and go over engine that side, same as the Seat LCR / Audi S3 etc.

I also have Seat LCR inlet manifold to take throttle to other side to get a cleaner route for hoses ...

Cool so...

Fits fine

Awkward

Undo water bolt thing

No heat wrap

Line up before tighten

Gotcha :)

Bowders1 I didn't understand what the op meant when he said oversized tip I thought he meant a tip for a ko4 turbo on his ko3s so was trying to imagine some kind of tapered coupler my mistake. I now no what I want and realise from reading your guide that I'm in for a battle as I'm running a standard setup with no simplifications, so lie kiss good my by to the skin on my knuckles and a whole day fitting it

Dont trust what i say lol

Supersized oversized

Bigger :D

Takes years to understand what im upto lol

Marks trained years ;)
