octavia vrs remap

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have just bought a 2009 octavia vrs 2.0tsi and I have been searching round for a Remap. I am in hampshire so any tuners that aren't too far would be ideal, or even a mobile service would be great.

I used to run a bluefin on my mk5 golf gti and not to keen on the revo maps as they seems too aggressive low down.

I have also come across a company called black code  http://black-code.co.uk/ and was wondering if anyone had any exprience with these guys.

so I was wondering what you guys are running on your petrol vrs, how much they cost and any other useful info would be great as well.

Shark Performance. End of discussion!

Are they that good then?

R-tech are also highly spoken of; will be going there myself after research.

very good :)

But a long way away tho from hampshire, could try jkm in Portsmouth

r-tech get a plus one from me, but its in Leic'shire.

Shark get a lot of love on this forum so must be doing something right, there is a dealer page on their website and seem to have decent coverage nationwide.

shark with the sts, all done via email and you can swap back to stock whenever you want.  no need to travel.

any idea what it would cost with the sts ?

another vote for R-Tech here....yes it is a little trek BUT they have a rolling road and always go above and beyond to ensure your car is how you want it....PLUS the drive home is awesome ;)

Or you could try STORM developments in Aldermaston near Tadley which should not be too far from you...

Most of the company's that are spoken about on here are all pretty damn good but you will find it very hard to beat the customer service you get from Ben and his team at Shark Performance!!!

just thought i might point out that last month i got in contact with r-tech and he mentioned to me on the phone he doesn't map the vrs with the tsi engine's in them.

I thought a 2009 was an ECU out job because of the protection system? :S

you our correct mate as i phoned a company called gad tuning who did a map on my dad's merc and they mentioned that it's a Bosch tri core unit and that its a bench job.

+1 for shark. Mines an 11 plate, same engine as yours, and sts works fine.

I must it admit they are very good on the tfsi engine's but when I phoned them yesterday all i had was some old guy trying to tell me that it was the twin charged type (turbo and supercharger). Didn't want to listen when i tried to tell him that wasn't the right engine he was thinking of.  :S

my last car was a 2010 tsi, mapped fine via the obd port with an STS unit, no need to take out the ecu.

I have a 2010 tsi and it has revo stage 1. Don't find it aggressive low down. Has loads more torque but pulls smoothly through full rev range. Mine was done via obd port. I believe it is the diesels that need to have the ecy removed.

Try this link mate, based in Bishops Waltham.  He re-set my mileage when I had Maxidot retrofitted by JKM who couldn't do it.

just noticed your location - if you want to just drop the car with someone to do it for you, these guys are great and can hook you up with a revo map:

not far from you.

Do you know anything about the maps he uses at all?

Am I being thick or should I know what an STS unit is? Lol

An STS unit is a piece of hardware from Shark that will allow you to apply/remove a map yourself.

Essentialy:

Plug into car.

Read current setup

Remove, plug into PC

Read map and send to Shark.

Not long later a mail will arrive with new map

load map to STS

plug into car

apply map.

...........all without having to go anywhere near a Shark dealer leave the comfort of your own driveway. (Edit: the original sounds "wrong")

You can apply/remove the map at your leisure. You also get a "holiday" map that will immobilise the car, even if you have the keys......handy for when you leave the car and jet off somewhere ;)

And you can check for fault codes. Saved you at least £40 a go.
