Slug in car. What the......?

Featured Replies

Staggering, and to some it sounds hilarious no doubt, but tell you, it's absolutely beyond disgusting when you open the door to find silver slobbery mucus trails all over the dashboard, switch gear, door panel, center console and carpet, and that's just from it's first night of residency!

Just how the in the name of all things holy am I going to find this, one of Gods most useless disgusting and vilest of slimy creatures?

No. I don't know how it got in there either. Presumably transferred whilst carrying something in a box/bag/whatever.

Irrelevant now anyway. I just want it gone, and downright bloody PRONTO!

Could only happen to me...walking disaster zone.  :swear:

  • Sit in the car and start having one of your rants. The poor bloody thing will soon scarper or lose the will to live and kill itself.

Terrified of putting the fan on in case they come flying out of the air vents!

Had one getting into the lounge recently, probably through the air brick.

Had to face disgusting slug trails all over the carpet for 3 months before I finally found it at 01:00 am one day last month, and promptly launched it down the road side grid.

Marvelous..

Got a badger I could possibly borrow?  :notme:

Find a badger and leave it in the car overnight..they eat slugs

Then put a Mountain Lion in the car, they eat Badgers

I think the slug pellet idea might work.  Put some in a small container on the dash and see if that has an effect.

Failing that you could do what use in the garden every year to catch slugs.  I sink a glass jar/plastic container of beer or lager into the soil near my prize plants and each morning there's a collection of dead slugs floating on the top.  You could adapt this technique and use a small glass of beer in the car.  Put that somewhere on the dash - if that's where the trails are - and in the morning there might be a dead slug to greet you.

Worth a try I guess.  I've found they really like Budweiser for some reason.  A mate left some at our house after a get together and I don't touch the stuff so used that and it worked a treat.  I refused to use my single malt on the slimy little buggers but cheap mass produced lager worked very well.

One thing that actually creeps me out is slugs. I'd touch any insect/reptile/animal and not even flinch, but if you put a slug near me I'd kill to get away from it

I keep getting ants in my car. They completely ignore SWMBO's Leon and the bins and make a beeline for my car. They kept appearing from the instrument binnacle whilst I was driving last week.

indeed, so you can try and imagine just how ill  I feel having this vile slime bag slithering around somewhere within the bowels of the car, possibly the air vent ducting where it's nice and damp.

I suppose it's going a bit ott to get the insurance company to authorise a full interior strip down and search?

Seen it done on a VW Golf a few years ago, but that was due to rodent chewing wiring loom infestation.

The body shop had to call in Rentokil to blast all the cavities with pesticide.

My deepest sympathies, seriously lol. I can only imagine what kind of reaction I'd have if I went to indicate and it was sat on the back of the indicator stalk or something.

I think I'd just drive the car into a wall
