Email address in pictures = 100% of Pure Scam.

Reported (the advert, not your post).

The car has a genuine reg. number

Never thought about reporting to Auto trader....thanks

This same advert was mailed to me yesterday but the link failed.....today it's still live....maybe not for long

Yeah, the pictures will be from someone else's advert. They don't really have any car and if you try and buy it they will likely ask to meet on an industrial estate in the middle of nowhere where they can relieve you of your money :)

Already taken down...we'll done Huskoda

Looked at a Fabia Vrs SE on Autotrader that screamed scam right from the beginning. But I thought - as a way of becoming a bit more street wise about the whole online scamming topic - to continue as if I were interested in buying the car and therefore how the money would be exchanged (and if it were exchanged, lost!)

Anyhow - the 'owner' had apparently moved recently to Norway and taken the car with him, it would need to be shipped back to the Uk

It was during the discussion of what shipping company should be used that the I discovered where the money would be taken.

Go with your instincts, if it looks too good to be true. It is. Why would anyone want to sell a low mileage yeti for such a low price.

I would recommend 'following through' with the purchase and see how they want to go about exchanging the money for the car , I would of thought it will be a very dodgy method indeed.

Or it could be a great bargain . Who knows.

Was this by any chance priced around £3k? If so it was on Pistonheads, I've seen it with 3 different email contacts and the car is stored all over the country. A couple of months ago it was nigh on my door step so thought I'd also be interested strangely after many emails to the 'seller' I only had 1 back telling me it was sold

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

It is £5500.....and they tried again today. A/T ought to be blocking them

They usually use other hacked accounts (usually dealers) to post the adverts, so are therefore very difficult (if not impossible) to block. General rule is, if they request contact via an alternative means (email / phone number in photo) and its a dealers autotrader account then its a scam.
