  • So funny that the criticism on this thread comes from non-vRS owners....... ;-)

  • Why else would anybody buy a Fabia vRS? Certainly not for its sleek eye turning dynamic body style. Or its luxurious interior. Or its top speed (a few days ago at 6am I gave it a buzz along a motorway

Get a timer on it!

Yes they are quicker than official numbers even on 95 Ron. And possibly produce more power than the 180ps. Because those have to apply in many world regions. At different heights above sea level in different climates and temperatures. Just as the figures that most manufacturers give. And the skoda has to have slower times than more expensive vw Audi seat even it the same engine. Gearbox and they are heavier.

Yes it would make it quicker than a CAVE running 95.

And a CAVE running 99.

But my CAVE with an TMC tuning box and ITG induction kit running 99 Ron will be quicker than your CTHE. :-)

If you are interested in the cthe being different from the cave, read about the seat Ibiza cupra 2013 facelift. It got the engine the vrs got 4 months earlier. And the engine management. Seat changed the official emissions to lower. Improved mpg and performance figures and left the minimum ps as showing 180. S k o d a just never changed any figures. Yet actually they were improved. Just no publicity and press releases.

It was constructive. Many people believe those who have "burn ups" at the lights are idiots or bell ends. Jigger is clearly one of those. I personally think it is a bit immature. I thought it was cool up to the age of 22 though so it is forgivable providing you are in a certain age group.

How you getting on with the TMC box dude? Really want one of these. You think you're pushing 220 bhp like they state?

How constructive!

I wholeheartedly agree with jaxx007's initial observation and his subsequent response to your post. Brighton Belle at whom he levelled criticism gives every indication of being the kind of child for whom details such as common sense and the law are as yet entirely irrelevant. If Brighton Belle is unable to recognise and learn from gentle reasoned criticism - so be it, it may take a while ;)

Nah, I'm 31 and still like to play at the lights. Especially when you're next to a 3 series coupe who thinks he's being clever. Think he was slightly embarrassed...

Last time I checked it was still legal to accelerate as fast as possible from the lights without breaking speed limits while being in full control of your vehicle.

CTHE vRS engines are best for that due to maxing out torque at just above tickover and excellent DSG box.

I have 2012 CTHE vRS and it seems to be producing (without having dynoe'd it) more than literature quoted 180PS. MAF figures alone would suggest just that.

I noticed that RON95 seems to provide less top end than RON99 (TESCO pumps)

Ally, Sharkrider having stock engine was breezing past TMC box tuned CAVE cars on a track day or two ;)

Ally, Sharkrider having stock engine was breezing past poorly driven, slightly lost drivers with no track experience and road tyres in  APR tuned CAVE cars at Castle Combe  ;)

Corrected that for you ;)

Don't want no CAVE/CTHE turf wars.

Dyno proves that Stock CTHE is more powerful than stock CAVE with some making 190bhp+, on the very same Dynojet rollers at Awesome GTI my Stage 1 CAVE made 213bhp

Yet further proof that I drive like a Wally and that Dave is very handy on track and that ability is worth far more than 20bhp, that is all

Ahm the autoerectcorrect function kicked in  :p

I cannot possibly comment on the driving skills as I was not there

EDIT: And nobody in their right mind could ever doubt black cars are waay quicker than any other ones, Stage 1 or not!

Might have to test drive a new CTHE engined Fabia, see if it feels any different to me..

There is only one way to find out! All we need is an airfield and the two contenders. :-)

Track days can't possibly determine what is quicker than what. Too many variables involved; mainly driver skill/confidence/track knowledge. Sorry Sparkly not aimed at you matey! :-)

I'm super curious to find out though! I need to get my car RR'd but my guesstimate is around 210.... More than a stock CTHE last time I checked .... ;-)

This needs to happen!!

I like that Furbytom & Sharkrider have had CAVE Hatches & CTHE Estates as comparisons,

& Furbytom can back to back or side to side compare a Beemer to a Furby at leisure on private Estate roads & disused airstrips.

Really liking it! :-) it's given my car a whole new character, it's got a lovely wedge of low end torque now which means you can make real progress with ragging the nuts off it and making the valves punch holes in the bonnet!

Not a chance for 220BHP, with the other subtle mods I have I'm looking at more 210BHP on level 7. Total guesstimate btw :-) only based on the results of another user with the exact same setup as me.

Thanks everyone,me and girlfriend like burn ups at the lights as in our twentys we only had 1 litre ford fiestas with no poke and now in our early forties with a very nice car and spare cash it is good fun for me and girlfriend to have burn ups with these young boy racers.

Ps:we don't break the speed limit and both have clean driving licences and also burn ups are on a and b roads thanks.

Haha yeah I'm well used to blasting around on my local "private estate roads" lol.

I'd agree the CTHE' s do feel a fair bit quicker than the old CAVE unit, comparing stock to stock obviously. I'd love to get my CTHE on some rollers but finding the time at the moment is proving somewhat tricky.

The OP may also be finding that the car is getting quicker as it loosens up with some miles on the clock. Our CTHE feels like it has.

It's a well known fact that on track the CTHE sets consistently faster lap times than even a mapped CAVE as the CTHE doesn't need to stop for oil every 2 minutes......;-)

It's just because he's got the estate I tell you! :D
