my vrs is very fast

Featured Replies

I tend to drop the stick to 'S' which typically comes down two gears, then I give it 3/4 travel on the gas and manually paddle shift up at 5000rpm till I get to the desired speed, then flick back into 'D'.

Like Jabozuma I find just mashing the accelerator lacks any finesse and also there tends to be some hesitation as it decides what it is going to do.

  • So funny that the criticism on this thread comes from non-vRS owners....... ;-)

  • Why else would anybody buy a Fabia vRS? Certainly not for its sleek eye turning dynamic body style. Or its luxurious interior. Or its top speed (a few days ago at 6am I gave it a buzz along a motorway

He never asked about finesse, or Driving experience or the likes, just the quick way from 30-70

Well about 5- 5.5 seconds is quick.

50-70 3 seconds or so.

There is quite amazing 0-70,  0-80, 50-80 times available with just mashing it in 'D',

So try the various other ways to get a shift on,  time them, in various gears.

but for non Driving Gods, Sticking it in 'D' and flooring the throttle gets you indicating, passing cars etc,

indicated back in and passed, then on up the road.

'D' is great IMO for non driving gods just getting away up the road in a nippy manner.

(TC needs to be off in the Twincharger because wheel spin can have the power cut to your engine, just as Brake & throttle pedal both being

used at the same time.)

Just got back from 650 mile round trip to Newquay and now very impressed now the gearbox has been retaught plodding along at 80 or so then putting foot down drops 2 gears and very quickly up to high speeds seemed to confuse quite a few drivers along the way. 650 miles 1 full tank and 3/4 of second tank not bad do you think.

That's about what I get while (mostly) parked on M25 (driving past Heathrow!!) then to London along 60 miles one way trip. 350 miles from the tank religiously withon speed limit and most of the time waay below it sto start M25 usual horror story.

As I wrote, I avoid kick down switch at all cost, very easy as unless you are wearing two sizes to large safety boots you can easily feel under your right foot. Quickly pushing the loud pedal down in D drops two-three cogs and off I go. Say cruising in 7th at 50 mph and off to motorway, mash it but avoid kickdown and before you know you just above 70mph. Best is from tight motorway entry road where people are doing even below 30 mph, it goes from single lane to two, big grin :D.

Having said that, the biggest fun is with paddles for me, no question about it! Still, S is the best for track work.

Paddles with the stick to the left all the way for me! Love the auto blip sound from the engine when down shifting. :-)

Thanks all I am not a rocket scientist but a senior site analyst with 16 years experience but I agree with a lot of the comments that there is no point in having a vrs if you don't boot it about now and again.(maybe have to do the 0-60 stopwatch test another day as girlfriends birthday today (I forgot ha ha)so drinking all day in sunny brighton so will have a major hangover tomorrow) thanks all from a middle aged mid life crisis boy racer.

Don't FIGHT with the missus on her birthday!

Just blow her mind with the 0-60 rant!

You go for it, my son - and dont forget to post the results.

Going from 0 - legal speed limit in the shortest possible time is still one of the few freedoms us motorists have left (safety issues considered, of course).

Most of the negative comments regarding your post seem to come from stick in the mud fuddy duddies who wish they had a vRS. Penis envy or what?

Or do own a vRS but really shouldn't. It's wasted on them. Case in point was just last weekend where a Mk2 Fabia vRS was holding up 4 or 5 of us. First straight and I passed the lot. All up to the limit of course

I'll be honest the other day after reading this I thought sod it I'll go out and see what my van would pull! That was a rather entertaining 11 seconds of my life need something a bit quicker like a vRS now though!

You might shave a few milliseconds off the time without a passenger ;)

Hi all just done the 0-60 stopwatch test in my late 2012 cthe vrs with girlfriend in car(using the stopwatch on my instruction)car only uses 99 tesco fuel and tank full.

Road was flat and sunny hot day and did 6 runs(times vary from best=6.1 seconds to worst=6.5 seconds and one run I am discounting of 7 seconds as I did not put my foot right down on the gas pedal.

So all in all I am happy with performance and all runs done in D mode (after my extended warranty has expired in 3 years and 4 months might get a tmc tuning box fitted and do a retest)thanks

Your results seem to be consistent with what most people are getting. I am not sure about it but I was getting impression that in S mode clutch packs were operated more aggressively so perhaps worth a re-test? Any excuse is a good one

Your girlfriend enjoyed the experience?

How much quicker do you think a cthe is compared to a cave (stock)? Pretty good times considering official figures state 7.3 seconds to 62 mph or so .

It's just my opinion without much of a back up - around 1sec slower

No chamce.

Stock CAVE I was getting 6.5's

Now with the TMC I get 6's with ease. - All unofficial, no proof other than my word for it.

An extra 10hp won't give you much gains on 0-60. Good warmed up tires would give you more of a difference for example.

It was good fun all nice and safe but girlfriend had enough on the last run but I could have booted it all day.thanks

You should have tried a few runs without the girlfriend.

Depending on how big she is you may have gone a bit/lot faster! :)

Maybe sub 6 seconds without her

She is only big where it matters (large bra size);-)

There you go, you just proved my speculations rather amiss LOL.

Agreed with tyres and surface also makes a difference.
