my vrs is very fast

Featured Replies

Hi all just done the 0-60 stopwatch test in my late 2012 cthe vrs with girlfriend in car(using the stopwatch on my instruction)car only uses 99 tesco fuel and tank full.

Road was flat and sunny hot day and did 6 runs(times vary from best=6.1 seconds to worst=6.5 seconds and one run I am discounting of 7 seconds as I did not put my foot right down on the gas pedal.

So all in all I am happy with performance and all runs done in D mode (after my extended warranty has expired in 3 years and 4 months might get a tmc tuning box fitted and do a retest)thanks

Very impressive much better than Skoda official figures.

I always thought mine was fast as I can beat my my mate in his 2013 Focus ST up to 60, then he catches up & he's gone. Interested to see figures in S mode, just to see how much faster (if any).

  • So funny that the criticism on this thread comes from non-vRS owners....... ;-)

  • Why else would anybody buy a Fabia vRS? Certainly not for its sleek eye turning dynamic body style. Or its luxurious interior. Or its top speed (a few days ago at 6am I gave it a buzz along a motorway

I noticed in D in normal driving, perhaps a little brisk but nothing like 0-60mph, that Mechatronic slips clutches a lot from standing start to make it smooth. Say rom 1st to 3rd, then normal.

In S it takes it much higher in rev range so no need to slip I suppose?

That's interesting about the ST. As really that's a proper Hot Hatch! Just shows what difference the DSG makes.

I've noticed that too! Although it's comfortable, I do prefer my brutal changes when in the upper rev range. You don't get the fart noises from the exhaust with the slip changes.

The ST is quicker I think, DSG removes the opportunity for the driver to fudge the changes though :D

The ST has a better chassis and the Fabia from stock gives away a 70bhp deficit.

Isn't somebody buying and ST Estate here me wonders :p

Focus ST Kerb Weight 1437kg

Exactly. Don't get me wrong, I'm not in the deluded Mustang Slayer group, I know the limitations of my car.

The ST is in a differently league. It's just nice to know the plucky Fabia with it's box of tricks can punch well above it's weight in certain situations.

Bugger.......rumbled :notme:

OK, off the line the Mk2 Fabia and Mk3 Octy vRS with the DSG's take off very, very well.  In the Auto Express test the Octy DSG had a better 0-60 surprisingly.  My Fabia when stock had only average off the line traction but was very quick to 60 gaining fractions of a second on many cars because the DSG just doesn't let up in the gear changes and then having it out on track at Stage 1 with chassis and brake mods, once I finally got to grips with the track I was surprising a few thought to be "faster" cars.

In gear and around corners the Focus mullers both of the Skoda machines though. :D

Woah woah woah. Let's stop this conversation now. We are talking about driving quickly and having fun in our cars.

Just to make this clear, I am going to have a little cry to myself when it finally comes to A) stripping my car to stock and then B)taking it to trade in.

Bloody love my little Fabia.

Well don't then ;)

Anything else needed, like downhill while vRS goes uphill? ;)

To have a correct gear at correct time is an art in itself but indeed Focci trumps even suspension modded vRS in handling department :(.

I also think Focci would win hands down in braking comptetion with its 325mm (or sth) brakes...

However strange it might read, I prefer the looks of my black vRS to Focus ST- light clusters are horrible, front grill an abomination, Fiesta is far more aesthetically pleasing. I do love those Recaros though!

Hi all would only get a dsg or similar again but with my stopwatch test if in the future I get a different car the difference in 0-60 times would be small if any for reasonable money new(good fun a million times better than my ex smart car)even girlfriend enjoyed it to a point) thanks.

My friend also has a 13 plate Focus ST. Not always great from standstill. Even with traction control off it still locks up like hell. But like you say, once it gets going, it takes over.

Also traction control kicked in every run and yellow light flashing away on dash display and minimum wheel spin, the car has done 9000 miles and the tyres are new Dunlops as girlfriend punctured originals by hitting kerbs/pavements many times thanks.

I'm talking 0-60 in a straight line, in S mode. This is on a certain carpark in Blackpool in the dead of night. Both cars set off side by side at the drop of a hat. By the time my GPS registers 60mph, I am feet in front. Consistently over a few runs. I put it down to the lightning fast DSG changes of the vRS & the turbolag of the the ST. I know I dont stand a chance on bendy roads or speeds much in excess of 60.

I'm well aware of the Fabia's limitations but lets just say I've kept plenty of cars that should just get away from me very honest on roads I know well.*

*Can't say anymore as talking about driving a Skoda "briskly" here is frowned upon. Funny that....

I think you would stand a chance since you'd accelerating better off the corners. However Focus ST if driver worth his/her salt ciuld be taking more speed through corners and then braking later... so depending on the track, the less top speed dependant the more advantage vRS would have

Hi all might do a few runs in s mode at a later Date(watch this space)ha ha

Lets be honest, even the Fiesta ST isn't a looker.

I recorded 0-62mph times of 6.8 seconds pre Mountune and 6.5 post.

Pretty much what Ford claim, which as it's similar in power to the Fabia but lighter shows you how good a DSG box is for the traffic light Grand Prix.

Hence so many cars that now trade on their performance benchmark times also remove the driver from the proceedings.

You get more used to cars you own or see a lot, and come to like them.

Still looks odd to me after 3,000 miles! :D

Try owning a volvo 480ES iirc you'd have to do millions of miles!

I like the upside down frown/Beaker from the Muppets front grill :)
