my vrs is very fast

Featured Replies

now in our early forties with a very nice car and spare cash it is good fun for me and girlfriend to have burn ups with these young boy racers.

Me and girlfriend are going to do a Stopwatch speed test 0-60 on Sunday when the vrs is warmed up on a quiet road as I don't want to have an accident.ha ha.

Jesus wept! There really is no hope for some people is there? I can only keep my fingers crossed that you win a Darwin Award soon and remove yourself from the gene pool.

As the title of this forum suggests, a Skoda is best driven briskly, not childishly.

  • So funny that the criticism on this thread comes from non-vRS owners....... ;-)

  • Why else would anybody buy a Fabia vRS? Certainly not for its sleek eye turning dynamic body style. Or its luxurious interior. Or its top speed (a few days ago at 6am I gave it a buzz along a motorway

Me and girlfriend are going to do a Stopwatch speed test 0-60 on Sunday when the vrs is warmed up on a quiet road what do you think the time will be in d(might try s as well)thanks (weather permitting as I don't want to have an accident.ha ha.

Thanks everyone,me and girlfriend like burn ups at the lights as in our twentys we only had 1 litre ford fiestas with no poke and now in our early forties with a very nice car and spare cash it is good fun for me and girlfriend to have burn ups with these young boy racers.

Dark winter nights must fly by in the leobella household if they get all excited about going out on Sunday with a stopwatch to burn up the road, I don't know what's worse, young boy racers or middle aged men wishing they were a young boy racer again!!!

I know we all enjoy cars but where's this thread going or even been, I've not been involved in a conversation like this since I was 18 years old with a Mk3 Escort.

In the words of Dragon's Den, 'I'm out'.

For some inexplicable reason, Jabozuma seemed to object when I and someone else (I can't remember who) suggested that the OP was possible not a rocket scientist . . . go figure.

Is that what you were suggesting, ? 'not a rocket scientist',,  i thought it was that he was a 'bell end' by agreeing with the poster suggesting that first..

I'm glad the OP is enjoying the car.

I drove a Ferrari 360 at an experience thing recently. A fabia vrs is quick but trust me, it's not really fast.

They are fun to drive hard though.

Not sure I'll return to this thread either.

As said by someone earlier, if you buy a hottish hatch you should give it a boot now and then otherwise you may as well bought a boggo standard 1.2.

Remember , it's not illegal to boot it up to limit (in right conditions on right road) just use of common sense needed.

Pathetic. How about you "remove yourself from the gene pool" and allow others to have a discussion without being abused by you.

I have to be careful - I don't know what any moderators might consider to be an unacceptable description of the OP (e.g. moron) ;)

Lay it off son, barking up the wrong tree here.

I think you showed enough of your claim to "a rocket scientist" status here - it takes some intelligence to pass judgements on other members here like you do at a drop of a hat.

Have nothing to contribute here, move on, stop wasting server space with spam.

Another resolution necessary on this thread.

FIGHT!!

So why even post here?? Read it if you must then ignore, plenty of content here, no need for the above...

FIGHT!!

That episode of my life is behind me know. Still train but do not fight any more  :sun:

Gives you that nice, warm fuzzy feeling...

Can I ask something?

Going ask anyway even if people think I'm a boy racer!

What is the quickest way to suddenly increase speed. For example say I'm going 30 and want to speed up to 70, am I best flooring it letting the kick down (think it called this) kick in or knocking it down with the paddles and changing up manually? Reason why asking is even if I knock it down a couple of gears (in semi automatic) the kick back seems to kick in anyway so your Devine opinion are welcome, excluding stupid remarks.

Edited by tattyjay

Flooring it will get you very quickly to 70 mph

At 30 mph you may be in 5th already in 'D', & at 2,000 rpm,

and it will kick down to 3rd.

It is all dependent on the conditions, road surface etc, etc.

But kick down is Quick. (if there is torque steer your hands are on the wheel.)

I do not Use the Paddles, so i might move the Stick to Manual, and drop a gear (2 gears), & still kick down.

But probably more likely to do that above 40-50 mph in 7th, and wanting it down 3 gears.

I also do a Double Kickdown.

The thing i dont do is move the Stick to 'S', unless trying to decelerate quickly. so coming off the throttle.

(I hardly ever change up manually, i knock across to manual and come down gears, but the stick goes right back to 'D'

to let the box do up shifts, it does them better than me and at the correct RPM to suit the Twincharger..

I am not from the Playstation or X Box Generation obviously.)

From 30mph to 70 mph - my way :)

If I know I want to do it I go manual, paddle to 3rd gear srep on accelerator but avoid the kick down button and I am at 70mph in no time :)

If I a plodding on amd suddenly want to go forward yhe just mash it in and let the **** doen do it. Mind you, I hate that and perhaps done it twice.

Kick down can feel a bit jerky or poorly timed and hesitant when mashing foot for acceleration, I find a shift to manual or just blip the down shift twice and give it the pedal once you have your gear.

All changes, be they D, S or Manual are all far sharper with an uprated lower engine mount. For such cheapness I am surprised more people haven't given this a bash, great upgrade and a great asset in traffic light burn ups

Loving cat in Fridge IBTL pic (although not technically a meme, which I know winds Ally up)

Lost count of how many users that member 'Vx' has annoyed.

Now that's a meme :D
