Adding spare wheel?

Featured Replies

If a car has a tyre repair kit, can a spare wheel be added later? Is just a case of buy wheel and tyre, chuck it in the boot?

I don't see why not, I wouldn't think they'd spend money on modifying the car to fit a tyre repair kit but you could always check with the garage :)

Yup I did with my 2012 Octavia VRS.

Sold the can of gunk and compressor on eBay.

Cheers. There may be a Citigo being added to the garage here.....

OK just check there is actual space for a spare wheel.

Like the car is not designed for just a can of gunk.

Jack & wheelbrace may be useful.

If you are buying a new Citigo get the spare wheel and tool kit added on when you order. Far cheaper than getting them later.

This is what I got

The wheel is £45.52 plus vat

Jack £24.53 plus vat

Tool box £6.07 plus vat

Wheel securing bolt £6.40 plus vat

Wheel nut wrench £11.67 plus vat

All from the dealer.

If you are ordering a new Citigo I recommend you get a spare wheel added as an option, only £50 (well it was when I bought mine) Order it afterwards and it's certainly a good deal more to buy.

Most dealers will then remove the tyre repair kit when you spec a spare wheel, some have been known to leave the repair kit in as well.

And yes there's a stowage space for it in the boot. It's not a small spacesaver  wheel either, it's full size although oddly a slightly different tyre size is fitted to the standard fitted on the car.

It's a second hand car we have our eye on.
