I hate my dealer!

Featured Replies

Sparshots Fareham took my Punto partexchange on a Fabia in March O5. Just had to pay a Fixed Penalty (failure to road Tax) to DVLC because the dealer didn't put the V5 bottom bit in the post as he promised. I trusted the main dealer never read the V5 just handed it over as requested and signed where sparshotts said. Sparshots cashed my puntos tax disk and 4/5 months later I'm still the registered keeper. Just sent the invoice to DVLC but they still fined me. Sparshotts also supplied the Sloda with no fuel' date=' no tax, no second key, different coloured roof. Bascally the saleman Barry lied about at lot of things and I foolishly trusted him.

never again [/quote']

Different coloured roof?

I dont like car dealers full stop, apart from Woodheads of Blackpool, who provide nothing less than excellent service. On the few occasions my car has needed to visit them, it has been returned washed and vacuumed and a full explanation of any work carried out.

I would suggest you find another dealer, they are not all incompetent, nor unprofessional.

If you want utterly incomparable bad service, buy a Citroen.........

Just a quick question, who did the DVLA send the refund to. Suely they should have sent it to the registered keeper. If they sent it to the dealer, then they must have known the dealer had the car and were then the registered keeper.

Thought you had 312mm brakes?

1. The V5 is very clear about the fact that the registered keeper remains liable for the vehicle until THEY notify DVLA that they have sold/transferred the vehicle to a dealer or other third party. If you choose to rely on the dealer doing this, you are asking for trouble.

2. Dealers don't become the registered keeper unless they choose to tax the car - which normally, they won't. They become a sort of "shadow" registered keeper which is never shown on the registration document. If you rely on the dealer notifying DVLA that they have taken ownership - once again - you are daft - there is ABSOLUTELY no incentive for them to do so.

All that said, I'm sorry that the dealer stitched you up, nel.

I to have also had problems with D. M. Keith (Bradford).

1). They did not reset my computer service log after a 20k service and I had to go back 300 miles later to get the dashboard service light turned off

2). My service log book is no longer in my car after the last service

3). They made me feel like a 'twonk' when I asked about a strut brace

Ive just fitted a strut brace. I bought my car from DM Keith (Bradford). What did they say to you?

After every service you should get an itemised bill. If you don't, ask for one.

Check the logbook for the stamp before driving away and if it isn't stamped, take it back in and insist it's done there and then.

The list of work carried out at each service is inside the service schedule with your handbook.

You can always try another dealer. Sometimes it's worth it.
