Clunk when i brake

Featured Replies

I have a 55plate fabia vrs that iv replaced consol bushes checked engine mounts/gearbox etc etc etc has 312mm brakes done about 15thou on them and now theres a horrible clunk that happens when i brake then reverse and brake like somthings lose but cant find it?? I feel it through the pedal :/ that leads me to think its brake related, anyone had this? Cheers

Have you checked all the wheel bolts on all the wheels are tight, what about the other bushes apart from the console ones.

Arb bushes did that for me! On the van mins

i'd check bottom ball joints usually that on mine when it clunks or I have also had loose pads before when I changed them over without shims

I'd also check the pads for movement as worn calipers can cause this too...

if there is movement sometimes a strip, coppa slip and clean does the job. good luck

I had a clicking when pushing on the brake pedal shortly before I found my rear off side caliper / pad stuck on, when I finished my 30 mile journey the wheel nearly cooked my leg when I got out and walked past it. Winding the caliper back, cleaning it all up and lubricating the caliper slide areas and back and sides of the pads seems to have cured it

I've got a clicking noise when I apply the brakes lightly. Think I'll look at a stuck caliper.

If it's a click then I'd suspect something like brakes as mentioned above. However, if it's a clunk, then it'll be a bush or mounting somewhere. Likely candidates are your top mounts, ARB drop links, and bottom ball joints.
