Im on about the guy who originally posted on scoobynet. Id love a ppp impreza. Id lose too much on the octavia, I wouldnt get back its true value.

oh, i didnt think hed sold his impreza

Evos are expensive?? They cost the same Scoobies here' date=' and they're both pretty cheap, and this is brand new I'm talking about. They cost the same as a Mini Cooper S Works...now the MCSW for the car that it is is waaayyy too expensive, even if it justifies the name.

I would never spend the same money I could spend on an Impreza STi or Evo 8 for an MCSW.[/quote']

Cheapest "offical" EVO is the 260...circa

PPS Ive seen someone talk about the scooby sound recently on here - and that burble (flatfourburble - i assume you got your name from this?) is there due to the unequal length headers - swapping them for equal length releases more power but at the cost of much of that sound...

Yep indeed I love the sound of the scooby engine! I've driven both the classic and the bug eyed versions. I like the classic more as it felt more alive and raw.

If I could afford to run one as a second car then I'd buy one for sure, even though SWSBO hates them

Really wanted a classic Scooby but couldn't afford at the time.

Now they appear to be owned by the backward facing baseball cap wearers .....just don't appeal as much to me now.

EVO just look plain inside...Jap imports have very narrow Recarros...alright when you go for a test drive but I'm sure they would literially be a PITA for everday driving or long distances.

Both apparently ballistic when going for it though.

I need a glossary of Scooby terms lol (sure this has been done before).

Love to have a go in one though

Seems like badge snobbery is alive and well on Scoobynet...

That amused me too - posts saying "we own an icon" and "I wouldn't have a VAG car they're too common" followed by "the Scoob was an icon in the 90s like the Quattros and RSs in the 70s and 80s" ... er... :rubchin:

I need a glossary of Scooby terms lol

I'll start you off with a few :P

Classic - Akin to the MK1 if you like.

BugEye - 2001 to 2003 with the so called Bug Eye headlights.

Scooby's are often quoted as MY - Model Year.

PPP - Prodrive Performance Pack.

STi - SUBARU TECNICA INTERNATIONAL, the AMG of the Scooby world.http://www.subaru-sti.co.jp/e/outline.html

Some Special Editions that I can remember of the top of my head (There are loads) -

UK300

RB5

WR1

RB5 is what I nearly bought, lovely car!!

P1 is just the DB's god I could marry that car lmao

No mentioning of new terms without completing the glossary entry! :nono:

The P1

Subaru%20Impreza%20P1%202000%20-%2001.jpg

The 1999 London Motorshow saw the introduction of this, the Subaru Impreza P1. The P1 (short for Prodrive One) was especially developed for the UK market by a joint effort of Subura, Subaru Tecnica International (STi, Subaru's racing department) and Prodrive (runs the WRC campaign for Subaru). At its introduction it was the most extreme Impreza on the UK market and the only two door version of the Impreza.

Power leaps from the standard Turbo

and the RB5

To celebrate the return of the English driver, Richard Burns, to the Subaru Rally Team Subaru wanted to make a special edition.

Enter the RB5.

Aptly named after Richard's initials and the car number '5' he was driving under in the WRC.

Fully colour-coded exterior (i.e. door mirrors, door handles, side skirts, front & rear under-spoilers, driving lamp covers)

Blue 'Alcantara' and suede-effect interior trim, with black 'jersey' surround on seats

Special graphite trim for the centre console

Air con

Special 'Speedline' 17in, 6 spoke, alloy wheels in 'pewter' colour with Pirelli 'P Zero' 205/45 ZR17 tyres

PIAA front driving light conversion for the fog lights

Prodrive quick shift

Roof-mounted map reading lamps

Special, RB5 side and rear decals (and also on driving light covers)

Price on the road

:D

OK so are both those derivatives of the "classic"?

What's the difference between a bugeye and a blobeye?

Why do some of them have WRX in pink?

Is PPP an additional option that can be added to ANY base model?

and so on...

Yes...classic versions.

STI...Suburu Technica International..... is in pink because that's the colour they chose.

WRX isn't colour dependant.

IIRC you can add a Prodrive pack to any turbo derivative.

Whoops sorry STI. But it's not always pink

I think STI is supposed to be pink.....perhaps it something they intorduced ovr the last 2-3 years...certainly stands out more than plan old white. :D

STI is simply Subarus tuning arm, much like the 'M (motorsport)' arm of BMW, or the 'AMG' of Mercs

"blob eye"

Just shove the WRX lump in a beetle and there you go.

Subaru performance, that scooby sound in a nice little VAG car.

But they're both 'japs eyes'.

Never known so many variants of a car.Presume most of it being the private competition with the Mitsi Evo (coming up to version X!!).They both seem to have forgotten the rest of the world of cars and just compete between each other

Its like the old Qualcast-v-Flymo mower ad that used to run :)

I have no problem with a bug eye.Rather like it.P1 though
