Yeti first service

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I've just booked my Yeti in for it's first service. It's not far off 2 years old, and is apparently on this long life servicing schedule. It's done about 18k miles. I've had no problems with it at all, but I was just wondering if there is anything I should be asking the dealer to do, when it goes in for the service. Are there any software updates, or bits of work that should be done in particular?

Oh, its a 140 diesel 4x4 by the way...

Cheers

Andy

Hi Andy!  How about updating your profile?  You're still showing a Fabia :peek: !  AFAIK, just book the service, unless you have any specific concerns.

Are the front and rear badges suffering from white worm??

First service is minimal on the 2.0lt 140 hp . I have the same.

Engine oil change,oil filter change.

That is all

Also a check of brake pads.

They will probably check for and install any updates as a matter of course. They did when mine went in recently for coding of the towing module.

My previous 2 cars (both VWs) had air-con recharges done as part of the 2 year service, but not Skoda apparently.  I am on the long life service schedule and was surprised that Skoda don't do a recharge like VW . My Yeti has just hit 3 years old, and whilst having its first MOT I paid extra to have the air-con recharged. It has made a vast difference and is much appreciated at the moment. It was 30 degrees yesterday coming home from work yesterday and the improved air-con was very welcome.   I did not realise how poor it was until I had it recharged, it was money well spent. I read that a car loses on average 10% of it's refrigerant every 2 years so maybe mine lost more but if your air-con appears to be not as good as when the car was new it is well worth having done.  Apart from the dreaded badge worm  issue  and weakened air-con my car has been faultless.

Skoda don't "top" the air conditioning when new; same with engine oil. I can't really blame them; but it would help if they informed purchasers.

My only advice would be don't pay for a long life variable / major service!

There are two types of service:

1) Minor / fixed service - £139 (oil and oil filter change plus a visual inspection).

2) Major / variable service - £259 (as above plus fuel and air filter)

However the air and fuel filter are only fitted "when required". Check out your service book in the glovebox and you'll see that it will be well over 60,000 miles.

The amount of people paying £259 for an oil and filter change is scary.

Agree with the above.

I changed the air/pollen/fuel filter this year and all stamped 2010 when factory fitted, makes you wonder what your actually paying for!

Mine went in for its first service in December (18 months at just under 19K). Other than the standard service the only thing I asked for was a change of the rear badge due to white worm. It hasn't lasted well as the replacement has it now!

Tottaly agree.

Service prices are an outrage.

But then, when you want to sell the car it is an advantage to have the service book stamped by a certified vag dealer.
