Erattic window + noisy engine

Booked my 1.4 tsi in for 2 weeks time to get a couple of issues sorted. Firstly when cold it has a very noisy rattle when idling, not unlike diesel rattle but when I depress the clutch pedal it stops. When I let it out again that noise comes back. Secondly my drivers window has started playing up, stopping part way up and then going back down like it thinks something is trapped. After then the auto up/down doesn't work. When I phoned the dealer about the rattling engine he imediatley said "dual mass flywheel" and booked it in for a few days. That's not good for a 16k mile car.

I think the DMF is a fairly well documented issue with some VAG products, keep us informed...

I have this rattling on vrs and was told input shaft for gearbox idling and noise was normal - have I been told a load of bs by main dealer?

Does the 1.4 tsi have a dual mass flywheel then? I was under impression these were fitted to diesels only or are they now on Petrols as well?

Almost all modern manuals are dmf.... Helps smooth out the low end power delivery. Of course it also means it's easier to labour the engine without it feeling strained, and flywheel and clutch are replaced at the same time (more costly) but it's mostly about NVH (noise, vibration and harshness)
