Hi there,

Hope someone out there can help. two of the lights on my instrument panel has failed and the needles on the fuel and temp gauges done illuminate. I am aware that it is a sealed unit and i have been toid that the complete unit must be replaced!.

 

Does anyone know if  can open the unit and replace the led myself ? If so How complicate is it and where would i source the replacement LEDs?.

 

The car has 180000 kms on it as it is a taxi and i have  no intension of replacing with new panel.

They aren't bulbs, instead they are surface mount LEDs.

If your handy with a soldering iron you should be able to remove the cluster, take it apart and replace or resolder any bad parts.

Alternatively there are a number of companies that specialise in this kind of repair or you could even try a local electronics repair shop.
