Immobiliser problems coupled with locking doors with key fob.

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, I am new to this site and hope I am using it correctly.

I have a 2002 Fabia, 1400 petrol and the immobiliser has not allowed me to start the engine on several occasions.  I have not got the key tag with the secret code on.  A mechanic has switched the immobiliser off and the car has started ok.  Although the key fobs open the car ok they will not close it and I have to use the key in the lock. Both key fobs react the same way and I have replaced the batteries in both. Is there anything I can do of do I need to take it to a main dealer for them to look at it.

Also there has been an 'inspection' light flashing on the dash for a few seconds after I have started the engine,  is this because of the problem or because it may need a general service?  Any help on these matters would be appreciated.

instead of having the immob turned off you should get someone other than a mechanic to look into why the immob isn't being disabled. Disabling the immob makes your car very easy to steal because all somebody would have to do is force the ign barrel for the engine to start.

If you're also have remote locking problems then really you need somebody with VCDS to plug in & do a fault scan & some tests. As for the "inspection" light, it either wasn't reset with last service or your car is due a service, again VCDS can reset the light
