Help me find a car...

Featured Replies

Maybe I'm setting the bar a bit too high, but I'm looking to change to an Octavia at some point, but struggling to find one with the options that I want.

There is no rush to change, so I don't mind waiting until I find the car I want.

Is this impossible?

Mk2 Octavia estate.
1.9 or 2.0 TDI, don't mind either.
DSG
Don't mind on the colour.

Must haves:
ESP
Leather, heated.
Dual zone climate with jumbo box/rear vents.
Rear park sensors

Nice to haves:
Maxidot
Mfsw
Front parking sensors.
Sat nav.
Xenons
Electric seats
Ideally under 100k mileage

Budget of around 5k

Mostly I've been looking at L&Ks as they are the most specced up, but the earlier ones had esp as an option, and it looks like most didn't bother.

Obviously the Maxidot, mfsw and nav can be retrofitted, but the more originally specced the better.

You are right to try and find an L&K. Early mk2 DSG Octavia's aren't that common

Keep an eye out for and Elegance with optional extras but ive Never seen one with Leather as an optional extra.

07/08 L&K's onwards didn't have full leather so keep an eye out for that. Earlier L&K's didn't have Xenons so theres an offset between to pd105 and the pd140.

Keep the faith Sam it took me ages (about 4 months) to find one and there were some very poor examples out there.

I will also reply to the PM.

Some patience may be required alright!  The dual zone and rear vents and jumbo box should be on most higher spec models. Retrofit parking sensors are doable.  I had xenons as an option on a Mk II a few years back and the xenons will be on dipped beam only (i.e. the light won't lift when you switch to high beam and you just have basic halogen beams) -  just in case you're expecting the full (bi-) xenon effect. I've definitely seen leather as an option on MK IIs and that's here on Ireland where such examples would be harder to find. Good luck with the search!

Earlier Elegance models (2006/7) were also pretty highly specced as standard, but not to the level that you want.   Those options seem to have been popular add-ons for the vRS, judging by posts on here, so that might be another option?

I don't want a vRS as in my budget I could only afford the PD engine, plus I don't want a car with a DPF.

The only 2.0 Tdi Octavia without a DPF is the pre-FL PD140.

AFAIK no other Octavia (apart from the 1.9's) was without a DPF. I also believe that all CR engined Octavias have a DPF.

If I'm wrong then I will await correction.
