Changing car early on PCP?

Featured Replies

Hi all, quick question for you. I have a 3 door sport on PCP which is currently only 4 months old however just discovered some wonderful news that the mrs is expecting a baby. So I'd like a 5 door version (Monte Carlo as sport is obsolete). Just wanted to see what cost it'll be to swap it over or if it's even possible? Will be going in to skoda Monday but thought id ask the oracles here too!

Cheers

Sam

at 4 months old you will lose a lot of money,

if you can delay until nearer the arrival you will reduce your loses

so congrats, and welcome to sleepless nights and dirty nappies :), mines all done

Thought that'd be the case, does anyone have a little one and a 3 door citigo? I'm sure we can make do until a time where we can change without financial loss! Thanks, looking forward to it!

I exchanged my last car early into a PCP (18 months of a 4 year PCP) but there was no financial hit for me. Part exchange was the market value. I was quite surprised, but my dealer told me there's no front loading anymore.

Three door isn't all bad with a car seat. You can get right in the black and stand to sort the seat or toddler out. I think this is better than leaning sideways while holding 20kg.

Wish mine was on PCP. I'd be rid of it in a flash.

Depends on the figures really.. ie how much deposit you put down for the car.

They will do you a deal, but youll effectively be loading the cost of the depreciation onto a new PCP unless you pay it off first.

Rainworth Skoda stitched me up good and proper when we took our PCP

Was told initially that what the car is worth would be a trade in value when we wanted to change

What they actually meant was what we are prepared to give you

18 month old eleagnce green tech with every option is now only worth £4.5k trade in

I shudder to think what it will be worth after the 3 years is up

Use a different dealer..... or speak to Kevin at Rainworth - He is a bit(!) technically illiterate but friendly enough....

Iv got the 3dr sport and a little one. He was 1 when i picked mine up and its been fine. Has isofix in the rear seats and if you get the right pram it might just fit in the boot.

Doors dont really cause me a problem though and 3dr looks better imo

Did they say to you there was a final payment (balloon) or it was a GMFV (Guaranteed Minimum Future Value)

Two very different scenarios !!

I think it was a final payment setup

I'll have to dig the paperwork out and Check

my understanding is final payment / GMFV (Guaranteed Minimum Future Value) are in many ways the same on VAG PCP

it is the same figure to buy the vehicle outright at the end of the contract or the absolute minimum part ex price if the vehicle is used as a deposit on the next car on PCP which would pay off the finance left on the car under PCP

the actual amount you would have as the deposit for your next car would be the ACTUAL trade in value based on real mileage and condition minus your GMFV

this is where keeping the car in good condition and on a reasonable mileage per year helps the trade in and amount you would have for deposit
