Insurance time!

Featured Replies

I can never understand insurance. Back in the day I had a golf gti with a declared remap. And paid about £350. Divorce meant I had to change to a fiesta diesel and it went up to £450. I then quickly changed to a TT with a declared remap and got insured for £300. Can't explain how or why....

Pay 150 quid for the citigo through lloyds.

That is strange. Doesn't make sense. Nice price for the Citigo :)

harumph! I tried a new quote with my existing company and they under cut their own renewal by £20  - now looking at £150

which seems pretty good then by the replies!

But I will give john lewis a lookup, thanks for the tip @oldstan The AA are now topping the charts for an extra £3 saving, so its down to extras now like windscreens..

Im currently with Churchill, so reasonably reliable, and I have made a claim (not my fault) with them this year already and they dealt with it pretty seamlessly.

I went with the AA after SAGA renewal was given as £ 150 up on previous year . Interesting point both SAGA  and AA use same underwriters ALIANZE , Always get better quite when changeing to a new provider . And per a previous post , had a rear end shunt earlier this month , and the service and repair was faultless service .

Skoda UK use them too as I have just taken out insurance with Skoda. They undercut everyone :)

Skoda wanted about 400 quid from me. Can't understand why??

Wow that's expensive [emoji15]

I've just got my Rapid Sport with them for £271

Hastings wanted £720

My long time insurer wanted £351

The Citigo was £160 [emoji106]

Had mine with Skoda 1st off, £212, renewal £224, LV now £177 and I will try to get that lower come Nov.

Iv just got my renewal and churchill want £10 a month more than the previous year making it £550 for the year iv got quotes for £250 - £300

maybe because they broke down all the time? Not ideal for an escape car!!

It didn't brake down EVERY week.... ;)

just wow.

You Won't Get Cheaper Going Direct

A single payment of

£2,578.25

might give them a miss....

I just renewed mine with LV for £185.12, protected no claims, courtesy car etc.

We have had the renewal through for the Citigo also from LV at £162, only £23 cheaper. Not much considering the difference in engine size & performance!

Just insured mine today and its cost £320 and i can drive any car at 23 :-)

Premium isn't everything, as already noted - the cheapest sometimes has hidden costs.  I avoid Hastings like the plague now, I was insured with them before because they were cheapest.  Rang them to add business cover - cost was £4.50.  Then they charged me an additional £35 to make the change.  They'll charge you the same for changing any details, such as the car, or your address. Utterly outrageous.  Insurance companies are only allowed to charge admin fees that actually reflect the costs involved to them of making a change ... so I can only assume Hastings are paying their call centre staff £200 an hour or more since it takes moments to update the computer!

Anyone know which insurers will not apply an increased excess if you use a Genuine VAG workshop that's not on their "approved" list (aside from the Skoda-branded insurance)?

I think the answer would be to read the T & Cs of the policy, always available online from most insurers.
