Wrong oil?

505.00 is the spec for the non PD diesels, if it only meets that then don't use it.  505.01 is actually different stuff that .01 make a difference.

The 505.00 is the older diesel engine spec,since introduction of 505.01 main difference its a more modern day multi-role petrol and diesel spec oil.The 505.01 generation gives a small level of improved engine cleanliness,and possible and wear control over 505.00 but would doubt if 505.00 would cause any harm to any regular maintained engine.

The PD engine is very fussy about the type of oil used due to the way PD operates in comparison to CR diesel engine. The camshaft in particular is susceptible to failure if an oil not conforming to 505.01 is used. Same as if you have a DPF, then low ash 507.01 oil must be used.

There are quite a few people with diesel Seat Leons who would disagree with that.
