Has anyone tried to run wires from engine compartment,into the cabin for ANY reason.

We all know of the Vrs sound gen by now. I unplugged mine for ease. Then thought, if I could run wires through, I could install a switch so I could have it on or off as I wished. Mine is a petrol engine so the sound doesn't clash with the engine.I am not drilling holes.

You should be able to find a grommet that has room to pass an extra cable through. Another option is to use a 12v DC wireless switch that are cheap to buy off eBay...

Then there is no need to wire in to interior and install a switch

Thanks Stevehg.  I will keep that idea in mind, didn't know they existed. I could have another use for those on another project

Isnt there a VCDS tweak to add the option to the infotainment? Or set it so it only comes on in sport mode?

 

I'm sure I read someone did it in their Ibiza recently.

Or find the original wires that run into the car and put the switch their or is it controlled by engine cu ?? Not sure can take a look on Monday

Very interested in the original question as looking to fit veba numberplate parking sensors to the front an will need to run power and buzzer into the cabin.
