until I'm bloody 25 that is.

I could always do the "I was taking it for a test drive, officer" excuse though, in the rare event of being pulled over whilst in charge of such vehicles

Jason, you could, BUT you'd still be un-insured!!

John.

im

I'm with Sainsbury's Bank Insurance Fully Comp - 40 years old, 7 years NCD (not protected),

36; 9 years NCB (protected); fully comp -

Well, I've tried confused.com and here are the results:

24yr old, been driving for 5 years, but 0 NCB (couldn't afford to insure a car in my name before, but gotta start some time :( ), never had an accident but was sneakily stung with 3 points (being on my bike) and I live in Reading - Berkshire.

And the best for a new furby vRS was

Norwich Union Direct quoted me happy as a young driver with neglible NCB.

Might be worth trying to increase your voluntary excess, as it makes a big difference - and I'd prefer to pay it out in the event of accident rather than pay it out regardless... :)

Well, in order to increase my chances, I actually put the max excess I could in confused.com. I think it was 5 or 600 notes.

Just checked the cheapest (AXA)

And they say: AXA quote of

Ah right...varies from company to company, with Direct Line I had a 750 voluntary and 250 young and inexperienced excess on my policy. Still quoted me

Managed to get a "custom quote" 'cos a lot of these insurers don't have the vrs on their systems  I know it's a new car, but it's been out for 2 frikkin weeks!

Anyway, got the premium down to

Would say that's a pretty good quote all things considered... :)

Rob.

Ive been getting more quotes on this recently and have been amazed how out of date most insurer's databases are - more than half do the quote on the basis of the wrong model of car (ie when you put the reg in they do the quote and it says - Tdi or 1.6 ambiente etc)

I made sure with the DVLA that their records are right for the car but I still get this problem meaning that most online quotes are useless. Given this, make sure that you check what model of Skoda is stated on the quote before you accept it :(

My best quote so far is from Norwich Union (

After lots of 'fingerwork' searching through what feels like thousands of websites, we've gone for Diamond. They came in at

Stu, will Norwich Union insure modified cars? Norwich Union Direct won't.

Denis - don't know whether they do or not as mine isn't modded in any way but they did ask about mods.

My insurance is Hideous.

I managed to get a best quote of

jono,

i had my first Rs when i lived in manchester, M14 - about as bad as it gets. professional, no points, 2 claims but proected ncb.

my direct line premium was nine hundred and something including chip and exhaust.

Im actually quite satisfied I have done about as well as i can moneywise for insurance.

The new car price and the sold car prices too, for that matter!

You all know the Tesco, Egg, etc all are underwritten by UK Insurance LTD?

If you check out the above sites and also search on Google for the other sites that are underwritten by them you may find some good deals just be ringing all the other companies in the chain...I have :)

As I'm a young driver (I'm 19) I can only find companies that give me high excess. As I'm Barclaycard staff I thought I'd see how much they would charge. Unfortunately they can't give me any discount but they offered me a quote that was about

Well, i just switched to Liverpool Victoria due to my impending Jabbafication on friday ;)

Cheaper than my last renewal by

being the lazy, procrastinating so-and-so that i am, i haven't got round to ringing LV. must do so before RS arrives next week. can't wait!

thanks for that geoff!

will do that...........................er, later.

Huck,

It might be worth your while trying Frizzell (http://www.frizzell.co.uk)

They are a subsidiary of LiverpoolVictoria who specialise in Public Sector employees (for want of a better description).

The cheapest quote I could find was with Frizzell - especially for a Jabba'd Octavia 1.8T
