Mk2 vrs tyre monitor system

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've got a pre fl mk2 vrs fitted with tyre monitor system as standard, I'm about to change the standard 17s upto 19s, how does this system work? Is there anything I will need to buy for the 19s for this system to still work?

Thanks.

You just need to press and hold the button until you hear a bong to reset the system once the wheels are fitted and the tyres are correctly inflated.

It will then re-learn the wheel speeds which gives the system the data to detect a lower pressure in one tyre if it deflates (due to the reduced diameter and hence different wheel speed).

I would think that you would need the 4 sensors from the 17s and put it on the 19s. I don't know if they are complicated to remove but I'm hoping it'll be just plug and play.

There are no direct sensors as such. It is the indirect system based purely on the wheel speed readings from the abs module.

The system on the octavia doesnt work like that, there are no sensors in the wheels,as already said it works off the rolling resistance of the wheel & tyre & uses the Abs sensor.

as it has already been pointed out by adamal & mikeyvrs - the octavia has the cheapie version of the the TPMS.

retrofitting the real deal is a pain, i.e. sensors inside the tyre, and linked up to the MFD (maxidot),
