vRS dummy exhaust outlet question

Thanks - I have been using Powerflow in Bury for a number of years now. But the company seems to be going though a reorganising. They have fitted the exhausts on my Monte, and my old 206, And the Alhambra which I was replaced by the vRS

As I have said, I may be a sad sod, but I have and EXHAUST fetish!! If you see 2 outlets, you would expect them to be connected!!

So I need to get this corrected - AND I will, watch this space!

But as I need to get to bed, as I need to be out the house by 1:45 tomorrow to catch my Eurotunnel connection. I will say good nite Andy, and others watching.

PS - I will be on line tomorrow evening (in France) to check up on what advice you lot give me!!

GOOD NITE ALL

  • Hi guys This has been a long time coming, but my plans have all come together at last. Hope the photo worked!! Never posted a photo before!! If it has you may notice that BOTH outlet are used!!!

  • Hi guys Just to update you with some additional fitting pics:- Steve

  • They came off easily just some narrow space to release the 4 bolts from the end tip.

I agree. On a car that costs 25K  I can't believe Skoda have not fitted a decent looking twin outlet exhaust and what makes it worse is that anyone can tell it's just a dummy!!

Thank you Charles

Plus the dummy's they did fit look to me very poor quality. But that's the option of some with an exhaust fetish!!

Sorry I know I am sad, but I think I have a point

As mentioned earlier you can plasti dip the actual exhaust (as done on the German forums) but I 100% agree with your comment.

I have been thinking of have them stripped and power coated/ heat treated

Have a look on the oct 3 photos site at the picture I uploaded of a German VRS I spotted. It had black anodised rear pipes n looked very mean on 19" OZ alloys. If you car is white, then go anodised black, it works and cleaning the one exit won't be an everyday task as it would be if they were white!

Evening Motley,

Can you please tell me where I can find these German forums as I need a VCDS'er to sort me some changes out and have had no luck on the VW sites over here. I think I am being thick but would really appreciate some direction o where to start looking.

Cheers

If you can wait a few months I may be out for Xmas markets with SWMBO.

Alternatively hang around the wash parks at the weekend for the nippers in their slammed dubs to turn up - one of them will probably be able to help you out.

What about the fake 'mesh' under the foglights..... :D

Nope, neither is the exhaust trims.

Slight thread revival here but perhaps the new vRS 230 exhaust tips are an option for those who dislike the chrome finish especially on a black pack car (like me). http://www.skoda-auto.com/en/models/octavia-rs-230/

I also think these would go nice with the black diffuser fitted by a few people recently

I have checked, with my local spares guy! They are not available yet to order, and when they are, I suspect you won't get and changed out £150! I did plan on getting a second set and get them powder coated, but even the cost of standard ones are too high.

An exhaust system is on order! To exit though both sides. Sham it's taken nearly a year to sort out. I just need to wait a bit longer now, at least I can see the light at the end of the exhaust!

Steve

The exhaust thing doesnt really bother me to be honest. The reason they differ is because the TDI and TSI vehicles do have different exhaust systems...very evident with how they are implemented Golf GTD v GTI. Same set up on the Skoda but they've put regular backboxes on their vehicles and gone the cheaper route of adding the bumper based outlets to make it all look sort of pretty..but Im not a massive fan.

I think its fine though the TDI and TSI differing in that regard, the engine noise gives a TDI away straight off anyway and also the TDI isnt as fast as the TSI....lack of rught hand exhaust is a bit of a faff but it wouldnt embarass me at all.

Personally it doesn't bother me. Exhaust gas comes from both exhausts on my tsi vrs. Yes, they aren 't connected properly but its not a deal breaker. It bothers me more that the usb connection couldn't be in the glovbox or centre console and to get full pass mirror dip, i have to have £800 electric seats. Still a great car, even in standard form.

Same here, tsi, doesn't bother me it's just a standard round pipe behind the decorative outlets. Only geeks worry about that sort of thing. I like the way the rear view is totally misted over when I accelerate on cold mornings, bet it wasn't a design feature.

That woks just as well on a TDI, I just need to turn right a lot.

I have to admit that it bothered me a bit when we got the car. Now I'm just busy keeping it clean and scratchfree so I don't notice the dummy exhaust much. We also park on a slope (with the front on top) so that may help not noticing.

Im perfectly happy with the stock exhaust setup and look. I wont be changing or modifying it at all.

The pics don't really show the colour of the exhaust tips, but if they are a good black colour, i''m definitely ordering a set.

Mine's a TSI doesn't really bother me that much, I have seen other marques with the same 'half arsed' solution. I an sure it would be relatively easy to connect them via some sort of flexible trunking if it was such an annoyance. I reckon a local metal fabricator could knock summat up for little cost.

My TSI could do with a slight louder exhaust note though! Goes like stink but sounds like a Fiesta!

Just found a good picture of the vRS 230 from behind
