8ft greenhouse. Will it fit?

Featured Replies

Wanting to buy a 8ftx6ft greenhouse off eBay. Longest sections are 8ft or 2.5m long. Just wondering would I be able to flatten the front passenger seat and flatten the rear seats and fit it in to save £50 van hire.

I'm not with the car at the minute as the mrs is at work with it but just wondering if anyone has tried fitting anything like this in.

Cheers

I seriously doubt it!

Hmm I'm thinking that too. Only other option would be to tie down the sections and if any hang out of the boot to have it tethered down.

I can get a 1.90m rod holdall in without flattening the passenger seat, but I do have to push the seat forward a little. My son can still sit in it comfortably though.

I think 8ft (2.5m +) would be a push - it would be on top of the dash against the windscreen, not good!

Done this before in a Mk2 and yes it will fit, biggest problem is the weight of the glass. Don't loose any glass clips when you take in down.

I got an 9ft long piece of wood in my mkII estate, running diagonally with the front seat wound all the way back.

DOH - I didn't think diagonally as I put my rod holdall in straight due to the 200 tons of crap I take fishing with me filling the rest of the boot!

Cheers.

I've bought it and will see how it goes on Tuesday and I'll update then with photos. Fingers crossed.

Not sure how folding the front seat will help you - pretty sure they don't don't fold flat.

The boot holds 6 X 3 sheets perfectly with boot closed. For 8 foot long I just put a blanket on the boot lip and leave it sticking out the back with the boot tied down. Obviously you've got to make sure it's secured properly and for glass you need a sheet of something very solid underneath. Anyway I find it pretty easy and only sticks out 18 inches

As AndyVee said, you can get the best part of 2m in the back without folder the front seats.

I've recently transported a wardrobe from IKEA which was 2.25m in my vRS where you cant remove the headrests.

If you can remove the headrest & fold the seat forward you'll probably squeeze get 2.5m up to the dashboard.

The problem might be the width though, if it comes in panels of 8ft x 6ft I'm not sure the 6ft will fit across the boot opening.

If its in smaller sections I'm sure you'll have no problem.

I meant to take a picture of the car when I'd loaded it from IKEA because it looked almost empty even with such a hugh wardobe in the back.

Exactly the reason I bought the Octavia..! (its the family man's transit..).

Both back seas down and the front passenger seat reclined as far as is possible, gives access to the front passenger footwell and removes the risk of marking your dashboard. I can get 3 metre lengths of timber in the car like this.

Remeber glass in the car first, I used the front passenger footwell for the small pieces thatvwould fit there then the rest in the boot to try and spread the weight, a lot like paper on mast its bloody heavy.

So Lamboluke, did it fit ???
