Top stuff!

A guy at work went all the way to Meifod he didn't know there was back roads running parallel to the A483. He did get some stick lol.

Lol I went up through Birmingham on the way up as picked SWMBO up from the train station!

Mines off

Mine is out of the car now too. My tax renewal date was today. I sorted that out a couple of weeks ago. Sounds like some people have had fun getting hold tax discs today. Forward planning for them!

Mine is staying where it is until it runs out next year. May remind me to renew it.

Taken mine out and will retain the Golf's for posterity. Put it with the ever growing envelope of receipts, documents and detritus i'm collecting.

I think I mentioned on another thread that there could be passport type processing problems when this system goes live, well what a surprise

Re-taxed the Polo over the phone without issue last night.

I'll take mine out tomorrow morning. Don't like unnecessary clutter in my car.

Taken mine out today and given that part of windscreen a good clean to match the rest :)

Even after he was shown a news article and leaflet on the changes, he was still kicking off that they'd stolen his disc and he was going to call the police unless they handed it over or admitted they'd charged him and run out.

Everyone else was trying not to burst into laughter. Guy in front of me was in tears trying not to laugh

There's likely to be more p155ed of motorists over the coming months when they change their cars as the tax can no longer be transferred, so if you change part way through the month you loose the remaining tax for that month on your old car, but have to pay tax on your new car from the beginning of the month. Nice little earner for HMG there getting 2 motorists to tax the car for the same month.

I don't think it's an extra earner for the dvla at all, it has always been the same with the whole end of beginning of month thing, the only difference is you cannot transfer it to another person.

On another similar note I was reading up on fuel excise and apparantly your not technically allowed to leave fuel in a car for a new owner either because somebody else has paid the duty on it.

I left my Peugeot 20 miles into the red when I traded it in, is that close enough?

How long till someone turns tax disc holders into a fad where you put random selfies in them instead...

I wonder if a digestive biscuit will fit in there?

I posted this in the bike thread but might as well post here too. Brother got pulled for no tax last night, his bike is taxed. The copper asked where his disc was, he told her he's binned it because he doesnt need to show it anymore, so she's given him a producer :D

I got pulled over at about 2am this morning in way hone from work for having no tax, but I had taxed the car first thing, I know dvla having been having huge problems in the last few days, I guess it is just taking a while for the database to update, they said they was going to seize my car but I produced a receipt from the post office with a flourish which shut them up pretty quick.

Should have a briskoda personalised tax disc with your username on forum! Gogo someone make them!

I've thought about printing this out and sticking it in the tax disc holder:

Could be worse though, when Cyprus scrapped their equivalent of the tax disc a few years ago they went to the opposite extreme of making it illegal to continue to have a tax disc, or anything at all, stuck on the windscreen.

Sir Edmund King is raising this with the government and said yesterday there should be a judicial review on this.

When it was first discussed, it was meant to work day by day so if you sold today, both individuals would only have 1 day overlap and any unused days would be refunded to the previous owner.

Funny how the government haven't implemented that

Does that mean if i wanted to, i could just pay £23 a month for polluting?
