Phone SatNav voice directions not audible

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a Nokia widows phone with a very good satnav built in.

When connected via Bluetooth, the phone itself mutes it's own speaker and will happily send audio through the car's speaker system for both phone calls and playing music files stored on the phone.

The problem I'm having is with voice directions for the satnav - I can't hear any!

I tried it in my partners Yeti and it works fine so long as the media settings are pointing to Bluetooth devices. I've yet to test if the satnav will override the audio if playing CD or Radio, but I'll update this post when I get round to testing.

I'd have thought that the Octavia system would be the more advanced so I'm surprised it is not working in my MY15 VRS!

Has anyone come across this issue and possibly resolved it - or confirmed that it's not possible!... I've checked, and played with various settings, but can't seem to find anything that has any affect.

Thanks

On your windows phone, go to settings, Bluetooth settings, click advanced and then tick the box for "Use an alternate Blluetooth audio connection for Speech"

Also, bear in mind that the Sat nav voice and Radio have different audio volumes.....

When you "should" be hearing an instruction.... change the volume, you should see the notification through the steering wheel of the volume changing (with a differing symbol)

I have same problem with Copilot on my Nexus 5 (google) phone & Bolero. No sound if Bluetooth on between radio and phone. Unless I select BT Bluetooth on radio. But then can't use radio/CD/SD card.so its either silent directions or no hands free phone

You're a star, now works perfectly. I can put the Garmin back in the draw.

I can actually listen to the radio and it will automatically silence the broadcast whilst the satnav directions are playing.

Not yet tried with other media... cd etc, but I'll have a go at the weekend.

Thanks again.

I did spot that whilst playing with the settings, you can access it under the Car -> Settings -> Sound menu I think - had to raise the volume for this as the satnav voice is quite low.

I found this too on my Amundsen HU. Didn't know it had seperate volumes. Oops [emoji16]
