What is the "ODIS" system?

Featured Replies

Tried to get a my dealer to enable the "hidden" setup menu in the Columbus unit and he said he was unable to do this, as they use ODIS not VCDS? Having done a search, ODIS seems to be another VAG diagnostic system but in this case, is he correct, does he actually know what he's on about, or is this.... errrrmm.. cobblers? :)

I'm not sure why a dealer would be willing to enable the hidden setup menu. ODIS is a VAG proprietary diagnostics and information system.

Thanks, but my query was more about ODIS not having the futionality to do this, as they stated they do not use VCDS? Are these two mutually independent systems with differing fuctionality?

VCDS is not a VAG or VAG supported product and it is not used by dealers. It is written/supported by Ross-tech and can be purchased by anyone

VAS/ODIS are VAG proprietary systems used by dealers.

In general, VAS/ODIS, can do anything (and more) that VCDS can do, but what may be a common function for a VCDS user, may never be used by the dealer network and will not have a guided procedure.

Excellent and thanks, that's exactly what I wanted to know. Does anyone know the procedure for enabling the "hidden" setup menu via ODIS? :) LOL!
