07' Oktavia possible head gasket or other problem? Advice appreciated!

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Last week I bought a Mkii Octavia, 2007, 100k miles, 2l tdi. all in very nice condition, full service history, seems to run very smoothly.

However...

upon closer inspection today I have spotted what I suspect might be water in the oil (bearing in mind I am not at all knowledgeable with engines).

There seems to be a small bit of a creamy residue on the inside of the oil cap and a slight oily residue on the surface of the coolant.

Another thing which may be related, may be a separate issue, or may be nothing at all; the cars exhaust really smells strongly. Not of anything that it shouldn't, just a strong diesely smell much like aviation fuel. I never noticed that my previous car (fabia vrs 1.9 tdi) smelt.

Any help or advice would be so gratefully received. As I mentioned , the Oktavia seems to be running beautifully, its smooth, fast and quite. I hope it is ok because I love it!

Cheers,

Stephen

looks like mine did, it was the oil cooler mixing the oil and water.
