Ebay Jokers

Featured Replies

If you deal with members of the public you'll get messed about.

It's that simple.

I think I'm watching your ST on there. I'll give you £2.5k cash....... Lol

I've had to close one ebay account because of some mentalist from Swansea.

I was selling a 2005 Ford Ka - 70k ish, decent history MOT etc.  Body was very tatty, I was hoping for £650 it which seemed fair to me.   So, man from Swansea emails asking if I'll take £150 as it's scrap.  I say no thanks, I'll get more - and am instantly met with loads of emails from him calling me all sorts of things and pretty much demanding that I sell it to him.  I end up just telling him to stop trolling me and leave me alone, and block his buyer ID.  I think his last words were "I'll f..k your auction now p...k"

It sells for £600 or something - turns out Mr Swansea has more than one account and decided to muck my auction up. and leaves me negative feedback, and files a complaint to ebay - he then tells me he'll turn up and take the car the next day and will pay me via Paypal when he's got it.  MENTAL!  He kept doing the same things to my other auctions as well so I gave up and closed my account - ebay simply don't give a poop about this sort of problem.

I eventually sold it to a local guy for £650 through gumtree.

I really don't get why people on ebay can be so demented.  People always seemed to be much more decent when they'd come to see the car before they bought it - in the good old free-ads days!  Or maybe I was just lucky?

Had my mate not bought one on the weekend I would have been tempted lol

My experience with Ebay is very similar to others posted already. I helped my mum shift a load of my Grandad's stuff for my nan after he died a few years back. She had a VGC mobility scooter 3000GBP RRP that she wanted a very reasonable 300 for. I put her phone number on the ad so she could answers questions about condition/ features herself. Big mistake. A guy called up, told my nan the scooter was currently selling for 10.50, could he strike a deal at that price if he collected that day. Confused, and without understanding of the concept of ebay, my nan agreed, and a heated frank exchange of opinions en-shewed 5 hours later when he arrived in Staffordshire having driven from Dorset. It pays to be honest, open, realistic, and patient. I've sold 3 cars, and 3 motorbikes on ebay, for prices I was happy with. You just have to wait for the right buyer.

It's just the same with Autotrader. Some tyre kicker will come round and make you a derisory offer and then look offended because you've turned them down!

If I've done a bit of homework and know what else is up sale at the same time, I'll usually suggest that they look at a cheaper one in black (say) that's 20 miles away, saying that it might be more in their price range. I'll also usually say something along the lines of "I've got two more interested parties that want me to phone them back if you don't buy it". They either pay up or disappear.

Not just ebay,i advertised my pug 205 on a car sale website & tonight had a very badly written email asking me what my lowest price was etc, told them & the reply was "Oh thats a grand more than ive got to spend"..............idiots!

Selling a golf for 4250 last year.

Muppet. "I'll give you 2000 for it."

Me. "I can look after that until you pay the other 2250."

No more heard from that one. Plenty of them out there, the joys of selling cars.

Turning this off-topic somewhat but the jokers aren't necessarily limited to the buying kind...

£4k for this car is in no way, shape or form, a bargain. The to55pot can't even spell effing Beetle and having just got back from the Automuseum in Wolfsburg I wouldn't consider this motor in good condition. From what I can tell there's a couple of new wings, scuttle panel, valance and paint job. Then there's whatever nastiness underneath to contend with. It effs me right off the way retards can obtain possession of an old Volkswagen then try to sell it for a fortune. The only advantage is as a buyer you can avoid the morons

It dosen't matter where the topic goes, quite funny to read some of the stories that have popping up.

Would be interesting to follow the above ad and see if it does sell!

Can't actually look ebay is blocked on the work network!
