Fabia Leather Seats

Featured Replies

Paul tells me that the leather is bought from Germany and shipped to China for sewing. This is purely based on cost - labour is cheap out there. He has an English guy looking after the China operation and overseeing the quality control.

FFS - Just discovered that I have some serious rattles coming from my car whereas it was PERFECT before. The door trim is marked and doesnt sit properly so I have to go to my local garage later and get them to sort it out. Bit miffed as I've paid

oops :(

not good - sorry to hear that harry - hope its easy to sort - keep us posted...

thanks. Its not actually as bad as I made it sound in that post, but still I thought it would be beneficial to mention it. The marks are only very minor but for the money you'd expect them to have taken a little bit more care. May I note that it is only on the drivers side front door where there are mark, and the buzzing (i think) is coming from the rear doors or seats I'm not sure.

I hope this hasn't put you all off as VRStu is very keen on this GB. Just thought I'd make it clear that there are a few things to bear in mind when having the work done.

Yeah I want some cow skin in my car!!

For those sceptics and those of you who hadn't realised and thought there wasn't much discount the real price is

It most certainly is a steal at that price. The quality of the leather is top quality, I mean it. He showed me previous projects in the workshop and it was all very impressive. He does work for cars that already have leather seats and retrims them with his higher quality material.

As for my quick moan earlier - the pros heavily out weigh the cons and I have NO regrets about having the work done. Car is now a full on fa|\|ny magnet.

So for this price, quality, and speed of fitting, you'd be mad not to. :D

Just phoned insurance, they want

What a con eh? are you sure you have to declare such things? Next they will be charging for an extra cushion on the back seat.

So they want

If I'm honest, I wouldn't have even considered the insurance implications of leather interior...

"Sorry we will not be paying out as you have leather seats"

Sounds like nonsense. Ah well, a mod is a mod at the end of the day I suppose

well yeah granted insurance shouldnt really be bothered about the seats, but i'm a very carful guy so wanted to check 1st lol

wish i hadnt of bothered now. same with the FMIC they wont insure it even though i can prove to them that it wont effect the performance

tosssers lol

I'd look to leave them in the not to distant future if I was you. Granted they are fine and cheapish if your not planning any mods, but if you are they are just too unfriendly towards it.

I dont' think I would have thought to call them for leather seats either. I guess that means you have to call them also if you want to get a bog standard seat cover.

Insurance - replying to several postings above so I qon't quote

1. All modifications to a car should be declared - otherwise you're effectively only covered for the standard vehicle. If the car WAS to be written off why should an insurance company pay out for leather seats it didn't know you had?

2. I think if you didn't declare them, the insurance company would have a hard job voiding your policy in the event of an accident (given a good solicitor). After all they won't be anything to the performance of the car, which is usually the issue.

3. I declared mine to the insurance company - value

I really REALLY love Harry's seats, but I'd have to keep the vRS logos in the OEM locations, or it would drive be barmy. As they cannot stitch the logo on perforated leather, I think this is a nice alternative.

Another option - I elected NOT to have the "vRS" logo on at all - I think the seats look better without...

I also had the side pockets deleted since putting anything in them for a period will potentially cause the leather to stretch. Likewise I tend not to use the back pockets much...

I think the reasoning for the insurance upping the premiums is the car will be more desireable to theives (for stripping parts) if it's got leather - so a higher risk than standard?

looks excellent :D:thumbup:

I was hoping you'd got new leather seats and has a spare set of vRS seats ;):D

But looks very nice indeed.
