Fuel Economy

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me what real mpg figures I should expect non urban and urban from my 2014 octavia Elegance its a 150bhp Dsg ,and I'm struggling to get passed 44mpg on average between town and motorway.I have 1400 miles on so far,its just getting anywhere near book figures looks like being impossible.

My engine is still presumably quite tight at around 1000Km, only, and I bet yours is as tight as mine.

With tyres at my pressure preferred settings (which is quite high) and my 4x4 I recently read about 47mpg of (late evening) city driving.

On the highway it shall be even better. I have no DSG but I found it anyway strongly depends on how much you stomp on your right foot :D

No DSG but 2.0 CR I get 40 in sport mode on the A24 caining the roundabouts. I get 56-60 on the M25 between 70 and 80. 4k miles on the clock long term sits at 52.4.

I'd guess up to 10% less with DSG

What I got on this weeks tank of fuel. My drive is straight an steady tho.

Mines a 2.0TDI manual

Look at my sig - 2.0 CR150 DSG Elegance Hatch. And that is over 18k miles that I have put on the car, it is about to turn 27k.

Use decent diesel and don't bother with Eco mode.

There are quite a few MkIIIs on Fuelly. I'm averaging over 55mpg since new with my 150 CR manual, nearer to 57mpg in last 10 fill ups, Andyvee has the DSG equivalent to mine and is averaging over 50mpg, so about 10% loss for DSG sounds about right. I do 70% on motorway, averaging 500 miles per week.

Spooky!

My mileage includes a horrible daily commute around the M60 at rush hour, on a good run to London and back I can achieve high 50's/low 60's out of a tank.

As others have said, brochure figures are not realistic.

Fuely or WhatCar real mpg has real drivers figures.

Look at my sig for mine - 2.0D manual estate 20000 miles.  Very happy with that - a clear 10mpg better than my Audi A4 TDi 140 over 60000 miles.

Recently set a record for a tank - 673 miles with range showing 30 left.  My last 3 fills have been an average of 66.8mpg, though that was a very high proportion of M4 Bristol - Newbury at steady speeds and non rush hour traffic.

Thanks guys by what everyones saying mine sounds if it's heading the right way,its just that everytime I use the car you can almost see the fuel gauge drop really quickly before your eyes ,maybe thats because of the way they have it looking like a rev counter instead of fuel guage

You won't see book figures unless you have any 10 mile long downhill stretches in your area to coast down.

At 1400, it's a tight engine fella, things will improve, different engine (DSG 184) but mine has generally improved by at least 5mpg from new and I'm driving no differently, ok, well maybe a little quicker. :)

Keep the faith...
